hmmm, heard this from my Sky News friend who has been accurate with past info, says she will look into it to see if there's any truth in it ... Radz has had Kinnear look at Steven Gerrard with Jamie Carragher as his assistant ... Gerrard has made it clear he would like to be Liverpool manager in the future, and is currently a Youth Team coach at the club as he starts his learning process ... can't see him coming to Leeds or any other club as manager just yet, so if Leeds are exploring this it's probably a non-starter ... creative thinking, but rather see a proven manager tbh Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Carragher! Now that's a name I hadn't thought of. The lad knows his football. If we could get an old hand as his assistant to 'break him in', I'd be pleased about that. He's old school, no nonsense, and I always liked the fact that he turned down good money to wear Nancy-boy boots in favour of traditional black boots. If you haven't read his autobiography, I really do recommend it. .... but it won't happen, I might add.
Frankly , I was amazed when Monk landed the Leeds gig , twice as amazed that Leeds had a reasonable season with him . Monk got a tidy bit of money after lasting 3 months into his 3 year contract with us..... and he wants the assurance that if things don't work out again as he leaves Leeds for another club , he gets his little nest egg from a long contract . IF Monk signs somewhere , I expect a total fail . If there are no long term contracts to be had , he may have to sign a 1 year but there are always teams that will like what Leeds did last season and take a chance on the manager vacating the team
To be fair to Monk, he probably thinks he deserves a chance to manage a bigger club than the 2 he has so far - can see him going to Cardiff or Boro and doing well with a bigger budget and louder support
I'm sure Monk thinks he deserves a chance at a bigger club , but what he thinks he deserves and what he deserves is two different things . He has zero coaching training for starters . Was handed Swansea on a whim when our chairman decided he wanted a "control the manager scenario" . Was handed a healthy team with a good schedule after Laudrup was sacked after Laudrup played all the top teams with a ton of injuries during a grueling Christmas series of games . And Monk almost blew that winning 1 game in his first 10 but managed to escape relegation . Our chairman showered Monk with great , expensive strikers and a 8 million pound CB , I could have had a great season managing what Monk had for a team . His 2nd full season with us showed what , truly , little expierence he had . He tried new things and when they didn't work out , he kept trying them . You know ...your suppose to get managing training and all the expierence that comes with that and then try to get a job , Monk skipped the training because he was " Silver Spoon Fed " opportunity and now he thinks he " Deserves " a long term contract on the heels of managing a pretty good set of players from Leeds to a pretty " Decent " season . Trust me , be happy and let some other club make the " Long Term " contract mistake ....a contract IMO , he doesn't " Deserve
I agree, always felt he was probably the better coach over Monk. Jumped up to 7/2 second favourite this morning.
