Gerard Houllier (sadly) seems set to lose his job due to his ill-health- but who should replace him at Villa Park? http://mycoral.co.uk/featured/whos-going-to-replace-gerard-houllier-as-manager-of-aston-villa/
Good riddance... Wish him good health, but as a manager... Glad he's gone. Hope that we appoint Moyes/Jol/Benitez/Moyes... In that order.
I'm not suggesting you're going to sign him for a minute but me and this Villa fan at work absolutely pissed ourselves at the thought of you signing McClaren and then at his first press conference he started talking in a thick brummie accent
O'Niel was probably Villa's greatest ever manager. If he returns the club could return to bigness again.
Arsenal fan in peace here. I've heard strong Mark Hughes rumours. He probably wants to go to a club challenging for Europe and make that next step up.
Of course, the best way to do that is by leaving a club in Europe, right? That said, looks like it's Hughes to Villa. Very disappointed as a Fulham fan; can't help thinking we've been used by Hughes.
Looks like Hughes to me too!! Gotta say I'm not excited though, seem more like a safe pair of hands. Hope I'm wrong.
Villa not considering Hughes, think u might get Moyes as he probably thinks he's took Everton as far as he can and needs a new challenge.
Another one off your list of managers Maarten Jol has been appointed Fulham manager. The longer you hear nothing the more likely Aston Villa did tap up Hughes and you'll have to wait till July, and I hope you come and take the 40 odd trainers he bailed out on at Fulham. Some others you might want to look at Ranieri, Walter Smith or Rijkaard.
Alot of fairly decent managers' names being thrown about for this job. Not qutie sure why, as your team NEEDS alot of rebuilding. However, if your owner can provide the funds, I think with a good manager, you can challenge for Europe again
In an ideal world of let bygones be bygones MON would return - but I cannot see it happening. I think AVFC should go for continuity and appoint McAllister.
I forgot that O'Neill won a European cup and the League title with Villa, Oh yeh, he didn't, he won FA (and I don't mean the cup either) spending a shed load along the way too, he may have been a decent manager, but in reality he'd barely make the 10 best Villa have ever had and a lot of fans need to finally accept this and stop living in a MON dream world.
Ronald Earnest Atkinson was Villa's greatest ever manager.... Looks like Wheelan has given Villa permission to speak to Martinez because he's confident that Martinez is going to turn it down and by making this public knowledge it's going to make whoever does take over look like 9th choice. Theres also a story in the Daily Mail that McClaren was lined up but they decided against it due to the sheer hatred on Villa message boards regarding his appointment. Bit concerning that your fans were quick to turn on O'Neill for leaving Villa when he did then Houlier got a very rough ride and now McClaren is hounded out before he's even in. If Martinez does turn it down now that it's public knowledge he's been approached there's not going to be a lot of candidates left in the frame. The Daily Mail article also mentioned Alan Curbishly and Ranieri both out of work and wanting to get back into the gam.e What do Villa fans think?
or Howard Wilkinson. I'd suggest Darren Bent as player-manager but you never know how long he'll stick around. http://salutsunderland.com/2011/06/saluts-week-jordan-to-liverpool-todd-to-derby-villa-to-wigan/
Looks like your owner thinks he knows what he's doing, but actually hasn't got much of a clue. Reckon he'll go for someone like Coyle or Lambert.
