Okay, so we might just have signed Ireland deal looks done.

So what formation shall we adapt?

    I love 442

Especially how annoying ill find it with Carroll running around up front by himself if we adapt 451.

But how would Ireland fit in?

I guess we needed some midfield cover, but would you really jeopardise the formation and team spirit so that we could put Ireland in the team? Thoughts?.. :)

I would be happy for carroll up front on his own. It's worked so far
plus with ben arfa running behind him it would be frighteneing

Nolan and Ben Arfa can both play in behind, he wouldn't be completely isolated. As long as he has crosses coming in I think he's happy.

Didn't Ben Arfa used to play as a striker? we could have him switching between playing behind/partnering Carroll
he would be great to reach Carroll's flick ons from goal kicks imo, we haven't really got anyone who will at the moment

Im just afraid that if you put 2 big central defenders on Carroll, he'll then become isolated.

But i suppose with Nolan and Ben Arfa behind him, it might just work.

We will have to see how good Pardew really is. ;)

Plus, a couple times this season, Barton has run onto Carroll's knock downs. If he did that more often, then we'd see more goals from the lad.

    for me its gotta be:

    Harper
    Simmo Williamson Collo Jose
    Barton Tiote Ireland Jonas
    Carrol Nolan

for now as the others like HBA are injured, switch around Nolan, Barton, Ireland and jonas arond in those four positions see what suits us best

Put Ben Arfa in a free role behind Carroll. That could work.

    Ireland doesnt fit in, simple.

Ben Arfa has far more pace than Nolan so would be a much better supporting forward so it would almost be a 4-4-2 with

    Barton---------Nolan---------Tiote--------Jonas

    -------------------Ben Arfa
    --------------------------Carroll
