Forth redundancy here. The last time they said "have a year's salary and promise to never come back". I hated the place. I would have left for five minutes of pilfering, which I did anyway Redundancy can have its upsides And you get used to it
I work on a 2 year contract that gets renewed/not renewed as the case may be. They company pays a bonus of 1 month salary for each year one has worked for them if one chòoses to leave or is made redundant of a contract is not renewed. Currently I have worked there for 3 years so if i were to leave/made redundant i would get 3 months salary plus the current month plus any outstanding holiday money. It could work out as much as 50k. It would be good if UK companies adopted this system. Its not good to be made redundant but a little cash helps. One of my colleagues who was made redundant took home nearly 90k.
AFAIK, UK employment law (for an employee) is once you have done 2+ years of service at an employer, you get 1 month of redundancy pay for every year of service. Some companies will make a decent gesture to any employees in that situation with less than 2 yrs service, and similarly more than 1 month per year to long serving employees.
1 week, not 1 month 3. Redundancy pay You’ll normally be entitled to statutory redundancy pay if you’re an employee and you’ve been working for your current employer for 2 years or more. You’ll get: half a week’s pay for each full year you were under 22 one week’s pay for each full year you were 22 or older, but under 41 one and half week’s pay for each full year you were 41 or older Length of service is capped at 20 years. If you were made redundant on or after 6 April 2017, your weekly pay is capped at £489 and the maximum statutory redundancy pay you can get is £14,670. If you were made redundant before 6 April 2017, these amounts will be lower.
Which is nothing. We dont get any pension but get a decent golden handshake. Say i work until i retire, depending on what age i decide to work until, i could get about 180 k after taxes and the either buy a pension or use it as i choose. There are no 'maximum' limits or anything. All of this work place pension stuff stiffles employers. Why not everyone get a proper golden hanshake, whether it be redundancy, retirement or just moving on?
Back in the day, employers used to offer significantly enhanced redundancy terms and pension benefits. A month per year was a minimum figure. I was laid off in the late 80's on 6 weeks per year served. I amassed over a year's salary, tax free. After a damned good holiday, I was working for the same employer on better terms at an office closer to home just 2 months later. I wasn't the only one either. A week per year served is just not enough in today's job market.
I was offered a months' salary for my 15 months service (in 1990) . That is why I thought the current law is one month per year served.
I wonder how many season tickets we'll get at Wembley? Should be a massive amount of new ones available.
Members are getting blades of the WHL grass when they renew their membership !! Edit: so too are season ticket renewals. Whoop whoop.
We've got a big cock outside our stadium! Arsenal have less than 60,000 small ones inside theirs. Balance.
I see the cranes and a bit of the stadium every day from the North Circular on my journey home from work. Though I am on my own I do shout "Come On You Spurs" when I see it.
