    Didn't Valentino Rossi come pretty close to making the switch to F1 at some point too? I remember hearing stories about him way back. Wonder if he ever could have duplicated Surtees achievement.

    You have to also consider how much more dangerous both F1 and bike racing was in his day as well. The TT was a world championship race back then, but was dropped because it was considered to dangerous

    I'm not an expert on MotoGP but I certainly know how much F1 has been neutered, even in my lifetime. I certainly can believe bikes have followed a similar trajectory.
