Ten seconds of research later... For much of Liverpool's history its home colours have been all red, but when the club was founded its kit was more like the contemporary Everton kit. The blue and white quartered shirts were used until 1894, when the club adopted the city's colour of red. The city's symbol of the liver bird was adopted as the club's badge in 1901, although it was not incorporated into the kit until 1955. Liverpool continued to wear red shirts and white shorts until 1964, when manager Bill Shankly decided to change to an all red strip. In other words the colours of the kit bear no relation to the club's history and any self-respecting Liverpool fan should be well aware of this - but the club's money men didn't like the idea of Liverpool fans wearing something that looks an awful lot like a Blackburn strip.
The Mousers are rumoured to be buying Virgil Van Dijk. This transfer fee is rumoured to be in the region of £50m - £60m. Wages of £200k per week. **** ME SIDEWAYS! Is it just me that thinks he's a long way from being the finished article and rather like all of their other centre backs has a tendency to switch off? Good footballer but in a David Luiz style. The world's gone mad!
If true, the world of the press hack has. Specifically on their 'Rose / Walker to wherever for 40m' fairytales.
Absolute madness if this is true, he`s done quite well for Saints (so did Lovren) but £50m+ and 200K a week would be around 2 or 3 times his worth. He may turn out to be top class, but equally could turn out to be a more expensive Lovren. Spurs picked up the best CB in the league for just £11m, I hope that kind of trend continues.
Saw this kit and immediately thought of my toilet. And no, that isn't due to the turds wearing it. More due to this:
Southampton to report Liverpool for tapping up Van Dijk. I wonder how they got wind of that? Given that The Mousers are currently under a recruitment ban for tapping up Academy players, one might have thought that they would have told Mr Van Dijk to keep it a bit quiet? Mentioning that Klopp had a personal hand in it is going to make denial a little bit more difficult but get Stevie G's lawyer in and it's acquittals all round.
Liverpool have issued a grovelling apology for tapping up Van Dijk and using Klopp to do it. They have also ended any interest in continuing the proposed purchase. Just as the Mousers were having the "Jurgen Klopp is innocent" T Shirts printed. What a bunch of ****ing amateurs!
They can`t even throw ridiculous money around properly. Mickey Dim and several Mousers were getting all excited on Talkshite the other day, what`s the bet VVD goes from world class to over rated within 48 hours.
I think that it's funnier than that as it appears that The Pie Man may be the original source of the fact that Klopp met with VVD. ****ing hilarious!
Let me see if I've got the headlines right: Liverpool say they won't pay over the odds when quoted a £40m fee for Mohammed Salah...but are happy to pay over the odds when quoted a £60m fee for Virgil van Dijk?
Get ready for another half-hearted so-called apology: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...iverpool-transfer-rumours-ben-gibson-13175912
Professional Mouser and employee of Liverpool's in-house TV station has called upon Virgil Van Dijk to threaten to refuse to play for Southampton again if he doesn't get a move to Anfield soon. Time for another sniveling apology?
It is being suggested that Liverpool are contemplating meeting Southampton's asking price for Virgil Van Dijk. The price? Just the little matter of £70m.......for a centre half. They might be less keen on this potential act of lunacy upon studying the 5 most expensive defenders of all time: 1) David Luiz £50m to PSG - They were very happy to get rid of him for £20m less not too long after. 2) John Stones £47.5m - Everton haven't stopped laughing since. 3) Thiago Silva £33m to PSG - Not the worst player on this list but not in the top 25 defenders in the world either. 4) Eliaquim Mangala £42m but they've lied and got away with the whooper that they only spent £32m - See (2) John Stones. Just substitute "wetting themselves laughing" for "laughing" and "Porto" for "Everton" 5) Nicolas Otamendi £31.5m - See (2) and (4) - just substitute "rolling about on the floor laughing in a puddle of their own urine" and "Valencia" So, the 5 most expensive defenders are all pretty **** and have been bought by two clubs with far, far more money than sense and Liverpool want to spend £20m more than the most expensive of the lot. Good decision.
I thought David Luiz was brilliant at PSG and was the reason Chelsea won the league. PSG are not the same without him.......he may be casual, but brilliant with it!
