Morning and welcome Toussaint, agree with Leo the moniker is a little dubious! Unless of course you have a soft spot for a south coast team!;)

Thanks for all the dictionary definitions of Icon - guess I've only tended to come across it in sort of Religious contexts - I remember going into a Greek Orthodox church where there were loads of Icons - paintings etc

Leaving the game yesterday I heard a very loud playing of Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" from an open top car in Whippendell Road. I realised from the lyrics that far from being about Pittsburgh sports teams as commonly claimed, this song is actually about Watford FC icons. The final 3 lines from verse 2 go as follows:

So many rocks up in my watch I can’t tell what the time is
Got a pocket full of big faces
Throw it up cause every ni**a that I’m with Taylored

The first line relates to the increasingly faulty countdown clock on the concrete wasteland at the Vicarage Road end
The second line was about the involvement of Elton John and Lord Ashcroft with the club, at least when the song was written in 2010
And the third line actually directly refers to the iconic GT himself.

Khalifa's Dodge Challenger car also bears an uncanny resemblance to the Watford home shirt.

Many thanks - now have 10 players who I have allocated as follows:

GK - Bilbo Baggins, usually saves the day

RB - The Nun, reliable and good support for the Tin Man
CD - The Lion, courageous most of the time
    CD -
LB - Harry Potter, magically overcoming enemies against extreme odds

RM - The Tin Man, OK once confidence built up
CM - St George, Jordanian international able both to attack and defend
LM - The Cardinal, smart and ingenious

RW - Indiana Jones, always willing to move forward into the unknown
CF - The Dragon, strong attacker
LW - The Joker, causing confusion in defences wherever he goes

St George is in both teams, and I still need a central defender. I thought I saw Bo Peep at the visitor's end, but not sure she is entirely suitable for the sort of formation I have in mind.

I have done a search on this word Hmmmmmmmmm with Google Images, and some of them are really quite disturbing.

Did you in fact mean to say Hmmm as defined in the Urban Dictionary but leant on the "m" key for too long?

The Hulk? Better be quick before Chelski sign him!

The Jolly Green Giant - makes up for the lack of grass on the pitch.

In case you have forgotten, it was your quote in the first place. I don't think Hmmmmmmmmm is an acceptable comment in this forum. If you want to replace it by a Threeangels word like Hmmmmm or Hmmmmmmmmmmmm please do so, then we can see if that is acceptable.

These are good ideas but I was trying to stick to characters who attended the match. I remember now that there was a sailor like Gene Kelly in "On the Town". So now I can complete the team:

GK - Bilbo Baggins, usually saves the day

RB - The Nun, reliable and good support for the Tin Man
CD - The Lion, courageous most of the time
CD - Sailor from On The Town, steering a steady course
LB - Harry Potter, magically overcoming enemies against extreme odds

RM - The Tin Man, OK once confidence built up
CM - St George, Jordanian international able both to attack and defend
LM - The Cardinal, smart and ingenious

RW - Indiana Jones, always willing to move forward into the unknown
CF - The Dragon, strong attacker
LW - The Joker, causing confusion in defences wherever he goes
