OK - on another thread I am taking a lot of stick for not playing the party line and saying that Lloyd is a good full back. He just is not. Now everyone tells me what a lovely guy he is - and I accept that - someone who when asked in a shop to "tweet" their son and does is a wholly good bloke So now it seems if you are a bit saintly you can play LB for Watford. Who else would you put in your team - not because of ability but for some reason of your own
You getting stick Leo surely not God in goal shouldnt be much gets past him , The devil on the left wing, because of his excellent trickery!
My saintly and spiritual team: Gk - God, nothing gets past him RB - Moses, can withstand waves of attack CD - St George, Defender of the Realm CD - Uranus, Titanic defender, ruler of the skies LB - Lot, a true pillar of defence RM - Confucius, unlimited wisdom & knowledge of the game CM - Noah, can flood the midfield by himself LM - Odin (captain), a natural leader RW - Odysseus, heroically cunning with a never say die attitude CF - Danny Graham LW - Pegasus, a truly divine winger Well you did ask
Wouldn't mind giving these guys a go! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...stunning-overhead-kick-in-football-match.html
Think you have killed this thread BB - surely no one can top that - and I love the Danny Graham inclusion - only surprise it that Saint Doyley did not remain as LB
Graham Taylor spent his entire football career saying that he was never a left back. By the looks of Bolton's team, he'll spend his entire retirement saying he was never a goalkeeper.
Leo, Lloyd is a good RB, not a LB - needs must at the moment. Would you include St David in your team? Being a bit political, I'd have Lady Thatcher on the right wing.
Adnam; Shepherd, Neame, Mitchell, Butler; Fuller, Young, Morland, Thwaite; Boddington, Banks. Performance might tail off a bit over the second half
At the Barnsley match I noticed the following: St George and the Dragon A cardinal with a nun The Tin Man and Lion The Joker Indiana Jones Can they be included as the core of the away team to take on the saintly and spiritual team?
At half time when Graham Taylor appeared, was it not inevitable that the phrase "the legend that is Graham Taylor" would be used by the announcer? I didn't time it, but it seemed to be about 2 minutes in. Can anyone explain where an icon finishes, and a legend begins?
There are different meanings of icon. Here are the relevant dictionary definitions: Icon: A person or thing regarded as a representative symbol, esp. of a culture or movement; a person, institution, etc., considered worthy of admiration or respect. Legend: A person of such fame or distinction as to become the subject of popularly repeated (true or fictitious) stories Obviously GT is both of these, but if push comes to shove, icon, do we not like that?
Leo, so If someone has been called Iconic does that make them a thingy Iconic adjective-of pertaining to, or characteristic of an icon. (of statues, portraits etc)executed according to a convention or tradition Just thought we`d clear that up!
