Having recently worked in Marrakech I can tell you why this law has come in. Morocco is the only north African country not to have a serious terror attack recently. As such their tourism numbers have risen. They know if they keep terrorism out of the country they will carry on making a fortune from tourism. This headline will further encourage westerners to visit the country. The security there is very visible and prominent. You cannot even get into the airport without a ticket.

My personal view is if you ban burkas you have to ban balaclavas, costume masks, visors on helmets, veils at weddings etc... etc.... etc.....

I just don't see the point. More people died today in cars than they did in the last 10 years from a burka are we going to ban cars?

These are already banned mate..You try walking into a shopping mall or bank with a balaclava on and you would be thrown out.

 

When was the last time someone held up a shopping mall or bank in a Burka? Now a hoodie and cap? lots more instances, so are we banning them too?

But yes for instance at airport security for instance they should be removed which they are.

 

As I said..Other face coverings are already unacceptable to wear in shops and banks etc, so this is just bring the burka in line. A cap still allows for facial recognition so no need to ban them.

 

I don't disagree with this in sensitive locations.
