So Olsson, Canos and Brady go out And Wildschut and Dijks come in, It´s different, certainly, but I´m not sure it´s better Defence still seems a bit thin Especially if Pinto or Klose go down Good cover seems quite hard to find, Cover is there, but the question remains Whether it´s a satisfactory kind If Dijks loan comes with a clause to buy Then it becomes a better deal, Than purely a loan, where there would be no need To go and impress Mr. Neil But at least we refrained from that tantalising bait The elderly, overweight McCormack, His wages alone would have broken the bank With nothing to cover our back.
Overall I'm quite happy with the business we've done, Brady often failed to play at his best, seemingly saving it for International duty, with the new man we have a plethora wingers and a new LB of great promise. I don't feel we have weakened!
I think how well we've done in this window can only be judged by whether Dijks can make that LB spot his own on merit rather than through a paucity of other options. On the face of it we've sold two international, PL-experienced LBs and replaced them with a bit of an unknown. In terms of the balance sheet the deals make a lot of sense, whether they do in terms of clean sheets will be the real test. Personally I think there's a lot to be said for a more defense minded fullback who might offer more of a presence at set pieces at either end of the pitch. On paper at least! Wildschut for Brady and Canos still leaves us with plenty of wide options, and possibly gives better cover for the strikers than we had before, but I don't know enough about the player to know whether it's a sensible deal.
At least he won't be able to play against us next Tuesday and it may even give him extra incentive to play well aginst his old team - assuming he's allowed to play against them!!!!!
Morning fellas, it´ll be interesting to see. Wildschut certainly has plenty of pace, just depends a lot, on what he does with it. In the interview I listened to, Mr. Dijks was saying how much he liked to push up into attack, so DH, I´m not convinced we have found a more defensively minded fullback than Olsson was.
Well we won't know for sure until we see them playing, but I think both signings could bring advantages given the way we play. Brady is a good player but up front, he is more of a LW than a WL player, which means that when he cuts in, he needs to get on to his left foot to shoot or play through balls. My impression is that Wildschut is more versatile in the WL role and he has the advantage of also being able to play WR, as a striker or even in CM, all of which he did at Wigan. That could provide advantages as an attacking player in our more mobile front 4 these days. In Dijks, we now have a LB who can also play as a CB (6'4" and 17 stone), which should be a big advantage when blocking crosses or marking opposing players in the box and for set-pieces. He'll also provide another target in our own corners and set-pieces. I just wish that we'd signed another LB so we could use his versatility to better effect. Hopefully though, we've replaced two players pining for the PL with two who are keen to get us there.
As you just mentioned he can't be tried as a centre back because he's our only left back. Maybe we will get a defender on loan ?
As well as Toffo, I'd like to recall Aztec Bars, Spangles, full size Wagon Wheels and Treats......................
Brady always seemed to cause us lots of problems, glad to see the back of him from Norwich and a little surprised.
