FIFA have just announced the increase of 16 more teams for the 2026 world cup... I started reading it and thought ..why bother I wont be here, or unlikely to be! <yikes> even if I am will I be able to see it let alone hear it or even understand it! likely hood would be whistle goes, KO next thing being woken up and told the game finished an hour ago...........<wah>

    Blimey JG !
I have seen all the world cups since 1966, and only 2 stand out in my mind as having been worth staying up for, England-wise.
So the chances are you will just be saving yourself a lot of anguish by sleeping through it, as in fact I will be too.
And when I finally shuffle out of the stadium to the great concourse in the sky, missing England getting thrashed by Botswana or the Pharos will not be the override thought of the day

Pharos ? Didn't know we were playing Egypt ?
But we might well get beaten by the Faroes <laugh>
World Cups that stand out for me were 1970, 1978, 1982 and Italia 90
As for the rest... I cant be arsed with it all now

I am the same age as jgf2 and I occasionly suffer from how long doI have and those I will leave behind but the old adage of enjoy your life and enjoy what you have got kicks in, so I have and I do...

So hurrah for life and I'm off to Cornwall again in a week or two, with my darling wife whom I met in 1966 and married in 1970, so cheers...<cheers>

Makes it all the more important that we have some kind of belief structure I guess.
    Have a good Cornwall Wiz...

I just turned 73 and have enjoyed my life to it's fullest, including being at Wembley for it's 2 greatest matches - England vs West Germany and Bristol City vs Walsall. Life moves on at a snail's pace and the only regret is not seeing my team achieve something important. Party on lads.
