My memory of it is that he was doing well with them but they got too big for their boots and decided that results weren't quite great enough despite being good by most teams' standards. Could be wrong as memory on these things is hazy but they didn't exactly go from strength to strength after sacking him.
Must admit I had to look him up to make sure and apparently it was one win in eleven games and they stopped the slide. Not sure if he is qualified to do a half re-building job though.
Yeah one win in eleven is quite bad although it depends how many draws there were and the manner of the defeats. They were in fifteenth at the time so nothing disastrous, I remember thinking they should have stuck with him, every side goes through bad patches. I'm playing devils advocate a bit here because I've never been sure about what his strengths are as a manager, I remember asking the Swansea lads that question at a time that they were doing alright and I didn't get any convincing answers.
Didn't Monk lose it on the training ground or something as well. Seem to remember a barny of some sort, possibly with Williams? (Could also have just made that up btw, not sure).
