According to Skysports Monk has spoke to us both but he favours Boro.

How fecking embarassing is that? Weve spent the past 10 years in the Prem, Boro fall at the first hurdle and he'd rather go to them than us?

Weve made the best part of 1 billion pound in tv money, with sell out gates and merchandise and Boro are a bigger attraction than us <doh>.

If it's true then so be it. Less pressure at Boro and they get more money to.

In fairness, neither of you are a massive attraction. He probably thinks Gibson is better to work under than Short.

I know, its the money bit that pishes me off though. He must think their squad is stronger than ours aswell.
To be fair I know managing Sunderland is a ball ache, but looking past the bad things we are a massive club with great facilities and a very good academy with some decent prospects coming through.

    I
We miles bigger than Boro but I think Boro is a easy job compared to Sunderland. Most of there first team will stay. Money to spend and you compare that to us with most of our first team gone and no money to spend. This is just all paper talk tho. We could have money to spend, just have to wait and see pal.

I disagree with the attraction bit.
Looking at the bigger picture both of us are a very good project for any ambitious manager.
We both have World class facilities and Academy and we both have a stadium better than alot of the teams in the Prem now.

Add fanbase on to that list aswell where we are concerned.

You have a nice stadium although the perception of your fans isn't exactly stellar (what with leaving early). Being a good project is purely a matter of opinion (I wouldn't say NUFC was a good project but that's a different story) . I think, perhaps wrongly, Monk should be looking at a PL job. He should never have been sacked by Swansea in my opinion.

Who knows. I think you need someone who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and kick arse. I see Pearson has been mentioned a lot. He would be ideal for you. Like Keano in the Championship for you.

Again i dont agree. Monk hasnt proven himself to be a Prem manager at all in my opinion. Swansea had drastically gone down hill after Rodgers reign so he had to be sacked.
He improved Leeds but thats all he did. He bought a full new team of his own players and he didnt even make the playoffs. My mates a Leeds season ticket holder and he didnt exactly lose sleep when he left.

Dont get me started on our fans leaving early aswell. Im sick of arguing about this to fickle boro fans. Teams like them that slag us off can be out the stadium at full time and home before 6 cause theres only about 20k fans there.

Anyway ill leave it at that.

We've incurred huge debt to stay in the Premier league.

Years of failure on the pitch has left Boro fairly stable financially and all that premier league money they got for their one season daliance is expendable to them now to go for a comeback at the first attempt.

Sam wouldn't come back here. He's seen what it's like. Short was annoyed by him leaving so doubt he's ever been in the frame.

I'll agree to disagree on Monk. Boro fans, however, are the worst fans to ever grace football. Watch their attendances plummet now they are back in the Championship. No way are they in a position to make comments about any other support.

Believe what you like. If I'm wrong how come there isn't a plethora of top managers wanting to take charge?

Monks signed a 3 year deal at Boro with James Beattie as his #2.
Set to be officially announced soon.
