Too cheap. Should be looking for £15m minimum. If Rafa doesn't want him and can get someone better then, fine, sell.

How about a straight swap for Andros?

Rafa doesn't seem to want him but then his absence recently has been down to family issues supposedly. Essentially, though I'd keep him and think we'd be making a big mistake, if Rafa didn't want him and there is no future here for him, then it would be wrong to hold onto the young lad both for him and the club. He needs to be playing regular football to improve and we need someone the manager wants and can make use of.

I don't want Townsend though. He is decent but I think we can do better.

I would still argue that Mitro hasn't been given a fair chance taking into account his age and England is a "new" country for him. Year to settle and then crack on. He's had the year where for me he wasn't bad but then never given the chance this year.

Ultimately in football everyone leaves one way or another and the main question boils down to who is brought in to replace the one going out. The classic example is Andy Cole going out and eventually Les Ferdinand coming in. No-one wanted Cole to be sold but the replacement didnt turn out too bad just a pity we didnt keep him longer.

I don't want Townsend either. Don't rate the lad at all.

He's ok but he blows very hot then very very cold. He is basically just a strong runner with a bit of a thunderbolt left foot. There is not a great deal of guile to his player.

But another 1 in 10 player over the course of a season is not what we want. We need someone more consistent.

That would come buying a better class of player. What I would term a proper footballer. You know you get players like Mane, Tadic, Coutinho, Lanzini, Arnautovic etc, they all have a bit more thought to their game than him. They see the game more if that makes sense.

I may not always show it, but, I'm actually torn between keeping Mitro or calling it a day with him.

I thought he was looking fitter and stronger in that recent run of games, and maybe had something to offer after all.
For me, he needs to play regular, or we'll never see the best from him.

Townsend is better than any winger we've got now and he was outstanding for us for the short time he was here. Sign him up Rafa!

Mitro should get better with age when he learns to use his body properly. Remember when we had Carroll was some stats out about type of forwards and when they tend to have their prolific spells.

Small quick strikers would peak before 25 before declining when would usually pick up injuries and couldn't use pace to same effect so would have to change their game (Owen, Torres, Rooney spring to mind). Where as big strong target men type would usually peak between 26-30 where they've learnt to use their size and body to outmuscle defenders and get in right positions to finish chances. Players like Drogba, Crouch who were much more prolific as they got older.

Not always the case obviously, but means shouldn't necessarily write off players when they peak and learn their game at different times.

Said this many times. Look at Niall Quinn. You have Sturridge currently whose star shone brightly then faded into injuries, All the more frustrating he spent so long watching at Man City and Chelsea. He probably lost his best years.

The question is can Mitro develop here without playing? Probably not. Is he going to play under Rafa? Probably not. I think the outcome looks inevitable. There is no real long term view with football now. You have to be doing it or you're on the cattle market. We could have brought him along nicely this year but he didn't fit for Rafa. Sometimes circumstance means you have to let good players go to be fair to them.

I think he will bounce back to a big club in his mid to late 20's.

I'd say that Richie is probably a better quality of player. Having said that Townsend offers something he doesn't.

Apparently Ashley said that not only are we keeping Mitro but he will be captain for our promotion push next year once Rafa is gone.
