Which is why I have always qualified my formation/position discussions with the fact that I believe such things can get in the way of football, which is principally player attributes, first, how they are used second. As a club we have made this mistake consistently under Bruce and Phelan. Don't ask what we achieved because of them, ask what we achieved despite them. Although that doesn't detract from the credit they earned for their successes.
Correct! You will also not find a slower centre back partnership than Williams & Jagielka - unfortunately you won't find a slower front two than Mbokani and Diomande!
The good news where the Jak is concerned, is that he has two games to show off to the new boss before Bournemouth.. Swansea and Manure first leg... Come on Jak..!!!!
I'll give you that one! In fact there are quite a few slow centre back partnerships - we're not blessed with pace there either. Just goes to show there are teams to be exploited in this department!
Pace at the back is only an issue when playing a high line and a hard pressing game. Well disciplined defenders knowing when to press on and when to drop off is perfectly fine. Davies isn't particularly slow anyway.
Crikey.. I bet this mornings cold snap was a bit of a wake up call... along with our impressive facilities...
...as they all looked at each other whispering - 'i thought we'd come to Hull City...I can't see any mention of the name...i think someones pulling a fast one!'
or to be more accurate...' Pensé que habíamos llegado a Hull City ... no puedo ver ninguna mención del nombre ... creo que someones tirando un rápido'
Without wishing to derail the thread, hopefully getting involved already he can get us back on track ahead of the semi final and steer us to a confident, comfortable victory against Swansea.
