Don't think they ought to drop the amount of foreign players. What I do think is they should have a cap on maximum amount of players. At the moment they can buy players at a young age and loan then out continually in case they become a class act. Chelsea have loaned a player to Juventus for 3 years!! If they were limited to 30 players not like at the moment have 60 odd players and loan out 30 odd, that to me is just wrong. Limiting the players would mean players like Tammy would be playing for lower league clubs in the first place so they can generate money like now when he's become a class act.
Fair point, but Tammy had probably been there since he was a young child- Bit like Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid who were about 8 when they joined. I wonder what Chelsea's total headcount of players is though. We do have Tammy but have had Rose and Caulker before and we do loan out some of our youngsters, but it does seem somewhat immoral to me that a club has 38 players out on loan at one time, even if we do have one of them.
SOME CLUBS STRUGGLE TO HAVE THAT NUMBER ON THEIR BOOKS ! 38 on loan and another 48 still at the bridge ! need a new striker lets go and buy one ! 49 .... no wonder with so many they have to start imposintg an additional team of them on the paint cup . blimey just beat Hartlepool 8-0 we are in final against Liverpool who just beat Exeter 7-0 better put out our first team ......
Mid winter break? There isn't any such thing because all the big clubs just fly off to Dubai and the Far East to play money grabbing games against each other in order to "sell" and "market" the clubs to their "fan bases" across the world.
Absolutely - they would do that if given a chance - which is why you have to say they are not allowed to
Read a story like this today and the comments about a mid season break is probably where this would lead anyway
Can't see a world league working due to it not being viable to fly around the world every week for a match. I can see a breakaway European league although it may fail when glory supporters get fed up with their teams finishing lower down the league
I think that's happening already to an extent in the Premier league. No matter how much money is thrown in, only one team can win the league and the next 3 play in the Champions league. 20 years ago, you didn't see anything like as many Chelsea fans. Now it's Man C. But kids are often sporting other European shirts in the street.Yes, I can certainly see a European breakaway.
But they'll get bored with that after a while. There is only so many times you want to see Man U v Barcelona before it becomes just another meaningless match. The European Cup has been devalued beyond all recognition by including teams who are not champions of their country.
