UK PM Theresa May announces plan to call snap general election on 8th June.

She said Britain needed certainty, stability and strong leadership following the EU referendum.

Justifying the decision, Mrs May referred to Brexit, saying: "The country is coming together but Westminster is not."

There will be a Commons vote on the proposed election on Wednesday.

Explaining her change of heart on an early election, Mrs May said: "I have concluded the only way to guarantee certainty and security for years ahead is to hold this election."

Mrs May will piss it with ease.
Labour are in disarray under that arsehole & the LibDems are a busted flush.
    There is no opposition.

Great move by wor Theresa. She's calling it before the Labour loons get rid of Corbyn. She'll win this at a canter.

Like has already been stated, there's no opposition. Up the blues <ok>

Wonder what the odd on Corbin to be next PM are?

More to the point will the bookies even be taking bets on a Tory win?

I come from a safe Labour seat. I can see things being a bit tighter this time round. Ive always voted labour but might abstain from voting at all this time.

Aye, there's no way in hell she'd be calling for this unless she was nailed on to win it.

I can only think of one way that there could be any realistic opposition to Theresa's position . . . . if Labour were to ask David Miliband (who should have been their leader ages ago) to replace the tramp :emoticon-0105-wink:

2 extra years for them to **** the country up and screw over the masses.

They know labour are divided and on their knees so are taking advantage for their own gain rather than the bullshit that came out of Cruella's mouth there. Brace yourself for a hard brexit, and end to the NHS, a social and economic crisis.

But the top 2% will be ok so don't worry

We'd be better with Labour, then?

More illegal wars, more loss of control with immigration system and benefit system. TAKE OUR NUKES AWAY.

Labour and Corbyn are dangerous ****ing idiots.

Health and Social care is my biggest concern. NHS is on it's knees and our elderly are sat in their own ****.

This is a statement not an opening for discussion. Just not getting in to it on here.

Think she should have battled it out, personally. But I suspect she thinks the hard time she's in for isn't worth it, when she can get Brexit in the manifesto and a working majority to boot, depending on how many remainers vote for the Lib Dems, as Labour will be nowhere under Jez. As for the NHS, it needs proper funding, but it needs the money spending sensibly just as much. Something's not right with it though. My lad has just had an assessment and the twat they sent round asked the wife whether he was "moderately" disabled or "seriously" disabled and why she thought the way she did. The wife pointed out that he has four-limb cerebral palsy and can't walk or talk and asked her what she thought the answer was. Turns out she didn't usually deal with special needs cases, but had been put on assessments all the same!

That's Social Services, though, not NHS, isn't it ?

My boy's recently been reassessed regarding his disability, after having already been told, a few years ago, that his D.L.A. was 'permanent' 'cos of his condition :emoticon-0112-wonde

Following this new assessment (this time for P.I.P. - which replaced D.L.A.) it turns out that he's still got Downs Syndrome :emoticon-0100-smile

Some people 'at the top' have got no ****ing idea <doh>

True, but it's worse than that. Now he's 18 it's the "transition team" who are about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Aye . . . . then the 'Adult Services' team will come and make it even more difficult <laugh>

I don't know why I'm laughing, 'cos you've got to (we've had to) fight for absolutely everything, presumably because disabled people are easy targets that can't fight for themselves, and I'm sure that some social workers class them as 'second class citizens' who don't matter . . . . the heirarchy certainly do :emoticon-0101-sadsm

If you get a decent Social Worker you'll have been extremely lucky :emoticon-0112-wonde

I voted Labour every general election from my 18th birthday until the last one - but I simply can't vote for Corbyn! The bloke is utterly useless. Labour were always the better party for the less well off people (working class) and Conservatives for the upper class - chances are I won't even bother to vote this time.

May has been very clever in what she has done - she realises, as has been said further up this thread, that Corbyn doesn't have a great deal of confidence from his voters - he has a few but he just doesn't have enough to be able to make any difference in the election - therefore a General Election will mean that the Tories win by a landslide majority. Labour are quickly becoming as much use as the Lib Dems!
