"The 27-year-old made it a hat-trick of Premier League promotions at Cardiff City Stadium having also gone up with QPR and Reading. The move to the promotion-chasers will shock Cardiff fans given his first-team status, Slade having overseen the exit of a number of stars since his appointment in October as part of what has been described as a need to slash the club’s wage budget." Let's hope he can be in a promotion winning side for a fourth time.
Defensively is what is our achilles heel. He has been there, seen it and done it from this postion with three clubs, three times previously. Pozzo's showing to all they mean business and backing Slav to try and tighten us up at the back. Nice one!!!!
We don't understand why this has happened. He has been one of our most reliable defenders, at full back or centre back, this season. Has had the occasional injury but he is absolutely solid, knows the division and has a track record of playing in promoted sides. If he goes up with you that will be his 4th promotion to the Prem. Must be a record. No disrespects to genuine posters on here but - Vic - wanted to join a big club??? Lol!!!!!
Ha, I thought that might tempt one or two Bluebirds. I don't know of a single Watford fan who thinks we are a big club!
Although I am sure he said it tongue in cheek, Vic is closer to the truth than Cardiff fans would accept. Watford have been top two divisions now for nearly 40 years whereas Cardiff have been in the lower divisions often. Big Stadium. Rich Owner but what else?
I think he must have visited us here and thought we are a good bunch. I worry about the Wobservers keyboard warriors reaction.
The man is a professional footballer... a successful one at that. I doubt he gives cares a jot what the Wobserver trolls "think". I wouldn't. I don't.
Can we coax cantona out of retirement for a game or two? He won the elague in every full season he played here. It's a very, very good move by the club. And, in the nicest possible way, the fact that Cardiff fans are not happy about it makes it even more positive for us
In the Watford Observer there is comment that matthew Connolly did not play against Ipswich Town because he did not have international clearance. I know Cardiff City are in the FAW, but they play in the English leagues so why need this clearance. It is anomaly. The four Welsh teams playing in England and Berwick Rangers are an oddity but except for Monaco in France and FC Vaduz in Sviss leagues are there other club teams playing not in the leagues of the own nations?
Wales in not a "nation" ak but is a country, like England and Scotland. The nation is the UK which is a union of countries (I won't get started on Northern Ireland which is 2/3rds of a Province of Ireland). Incidentally there are other Welsh teams that play in English leagues - Wrexham in the Conference and Colwyn Bay, who play in one of the lower leagues, are two examples.
