The Masters comes to us this year from the 'Ally Pally' and this years line up of the top 16 looks as strong as its ever done.

Yesterdays first matches included the last years champino versus the Rocket and to be honest if was the typical game and finish from O'Sullivan. Ran to a big lead, fell asleep, missed a few pots and let Ding back in, woke up and finished him off to take the last 2 frames. Finishing the match off with a well made 125...

The evening matched brought Williams and Maguire together in which Williams' potting and overall play brought him a well deserved victory. Maguire looking perplexed with some of his saftey shots, especially in the first frame when he simply put the balck over the hole and left a easy pot for Williams to take the opener. The next 3 frames went his way and although Maguire fought back it was too late...

Todays matches are the young Billy Whizz Bang Judd Trump v 'The Plodder' and tough match player that is Stuart Bingham.

Then we have Shaun 'I havnt eaten all the pies' Murphy v Martin 'Penfold' Gould...

Should have some good snooker to watch...<ok>

    Day 2 results...

    Trump 6-3 Bingham...

Watching Trump is a lesson in how to cue, pot and the damn right youthfullness of showing no nerves, but... The stats didnt back up his impressive display on the green baize. The missed pots or just simple positional play let Bingham in too many times and although he won in the end it wasnt the type of performance that wouldnt inspire you to think he would go on and win the tournament... The beauty of Trump is that when we see him next time out he may well blast the opposition into the dirt... He still has a lot to learn, but he is great to watch...

    Murhpy 6-2- Gould...

Murphy looks solid, and has done for some time now, as he swept past Gould in easy fashion last night. Gould was out of sorts and just didnt perform like the top 16 player that he is. Murphy will be glad with how he played but he knows it only gets harder from now, as he hasnt past the quarter-finals in any of his visits to the Masters...

    Todays action...

    Higgins v Stevens

John is favourite and should beat Matthew but its going to come down to how Matthew plays. He can beat anybody on his day but they seldom seem to come out at the big events...

    Higgins to win 6-3...

    Robertson v Allen
Another good clash with both players bringing some kind of form into this. Robbo has struggled with his game since winning the Worlds and looks like getting back to his top form. Allen showed his mental capacity in the UK last month and i feel that after his outburst against Barry Hearn i do see him having a big year this year...

    Allen to win 6-4

    Day 3 results...

    Higgins 6-2 Stevens...

It was a regulation win for John and although not at his best he did show the reason why he is regarded as one of the best, putting Matthew to the sword with his constant break building. Matthew struggled but its been a long time since he played in the Masters, and it showed...

    Robertson 6-3 Allen...
Not the tight tussle i had imagined, and to be fair to Robbo he punished Marks mistakes with frame winning clearances or breaks to put the frame out of Marks reach. Allen started well and looked good for his lead of 2-1, but he should have gone in 3-1 up at the interval. A 52 point lead was open to attack from Neil if he made a mistake. He did, Robbo cleared up with a 77 and the match was going in favour of the Aussie winning it from there.

    Todays action...

    Selby v Lee
Selby should be too good for Lee, and i expect this to go his way with a comfortable win. Stephen Lee has come back into the top 16 and has obviously put in the table time to get him there. But Selby is one of the games tough nuts to crack, and this will be too much for him.

    Selby to win 6-3...

    Carter v Dott...
This could go either way and is a close one to call. Both have had off table health problems and have therefore struggled with the whole snooker tour and tournaments. I wish them both well, and hope they stick at the game they both love. I just favour Carter as he is infront of his local crowd, but its not a confident vote as both players are not firing at their best right now.

    Carter towin 6-4...

    Day 4 results...

    Selby 6-4 Lee
In what should have been a regulation win for Selby he tried his best to give Lee an opening and give his supporters something to fret about. Having gone 4-0 up at the interval it was just about taking his chances and seeing off Lee. This he should have done to win 6-1, but when losing that frame Selby looked very nervous and edgey and evetually was relieved to get over the winning line 6-4.

    Dott 6-3 Carter...
Dott took the last 4 frames in this to reverse a 3-2 scoreline to a 6-3 win. To be honest it was a game littered with mistakes and nervous play. Both players looked to struggle and it was sheer relief to Grame Dott when he won. Carter didnt play anywhere near the standard and to be honest neither did Dott. Not a good game to watch...
