A tough ask indeed - methinks we'll need a comeback of Lazaraus like proportions to pull clear of the botton three. I do enjoy reading the posts of those who've ''seen the light'' and fully expect the formbook to be lobbed out the window and we somehow miraculously end up close to mid-table, it's funny how these are generally the same posters who were screeching hysterically when we were losing under Bruce & Phelan. Balance in everything gentlemen, let that be your watchword.
I don't think we have much chance of picking up points in the next few games but other bottom clubs wont get many either. After these games we should have a good chance of winning in every game.
True. Even though 'nothing' came of it, this was very satisfying. With regard to MS, it tantalisingly feels like we have some sort of hope, so let's hope he's backed this month from above: Give us the tools and we'll finish the job.
I think same old problem will still exist , nobody to score enough goals to finish off the nice passing , unless he pulls out a transfer miracle
We've much improved defensively, only conceded 5 in 4 games and won 2 out of 4 under Silva. Weve only lost to Man Utd & Chelsea. Under Phelan we weren't winning games and we were conceding at will
Hope so , I just look at the the other teams and they all have better strikers than us imo , Hernandez is the best we have but not good enough to rescue a team , great against Bournemouth but then one of the few to let us down yesterday , people will say he's not a target man or lone striker , but any professional footballer should be able to chest a ball or trap it and pass it somewhere near a teammate , he failed with the first part of that at least 6 times yesterday , I find it hard to put my faith in a striker where you have to cross your fingers and hope he can control the ball
We need a miracle at the moment. Not doubting that we played some great football yesterday, or that we looked good under Phelan for the last few games but... 1) Our squad is too small to survive. Sod's Law is doing for us. The less we can afford injuries, the more we're getting. We've no cover. If we lose another midfielder on Thursday what do we do at the weekend? 2) We can play the greatest football in the world but if you don't score goals you don't win football matches. Bournemouth excepted, we've been woeful infront of goal whilst playing so well. Given that we don't keep clean sheets we will not survive because we simply won't be able to win. Unless... the swarthy Portuguese sign language expert can work his fingers-explain-all-possible-outcomes magic. I stand here, arms folded, awaiting the next couple of weeks with interest.
Since silva arrived We've lost livermore, mason and henrikksen and snodgrass(injury length?) In the midfield Look at our league scorers Snodgrass 7 Dawson 3 Hernandez 3 Dio 2 Mason 1 Meyler 1 Maloney 1 Livermore 1 Own goal 1 Two of those are out Shocking lack of goals across the team
Completely agree that he's unreliable and not a patch on what other teams have, but I don't think it's a lack of skill. It's physical and mental strength to want to fight for the ball and hold onto it. I'm sure he can trap it fine when unmarked but with a big defender on him he's too scared of getting bumped.
Word. Disappointing to see some posters losing the big picture. The jury is out on Silva. We've no one who can score except Hernandez when the opposition is lower table. Until we sign someone, the outcome will be identical......great performance, great spirit, 100% effort, but no goals. We saw it at WHU and against Man City under Phelan, and Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge under Silva. 0-1, 0-3, 0-2, 0-2. All great performances and no goals scored, betrayed by lack of cutting edge. Under Phelan and now under Silva. The song remains the same. I wonder why Silva says we have a smaller budget than other clubs, given that we have spent less in summer than other clubs? Maybe now he is starting to see the **** hand the manager gets dealt here. My worst case scenario: we get relegated, Silva goes, most of his new players leave, our best ones get sold in this window or at season end. This will leave us with half a squad, no backroom staff, no continuity, and nothing like the group of players we had last time we came down. Worst of all we still have owners incapable of mapping out any kind of strategy for the club and who refuse to engage with the media and fans. Fingers crossed Silva gets the players he needs. (I don't believe we will get cut adrift if we lose the forthcoming games...we were always going to lose those. The players know who we have to beat at the KCOM in March and April in order to have a chance of staying up.)
Possibly , but there is incidents like the pass from Huddlestone yesterday when he slid it through , in a game like that it has to go down as a chance , it was there to be hit first time on the left peg , and it bounced off his ankle and out , if that was Defoe the net would have been bursting , in the end I think that's the difference that will cost us
Hernandez did look awful yesterday. Couldn't hold the ball up and every time it came to his feet, it bounced off him. Just a bad day at the office.
