If he was cheap sounds like it's a worth while gamble. Has been playing in the Spanish second division but is 6 feet 4 originally came through the Real Madrid academy and was once signed by Juventus, I'm also guessing his stats looked good Anyway maybe he just needs a place to call home to flourish.
His profile seems to say he has potential in that teams like Real & Juventus have looked at him in his younger days, but only got into their B teams, he is 6ft3 and has can play right or left side which might mean two footed. For me play CB is all about the partnership ( a Hangerland/Hughes type), so it is wait and see.
