"Many people are unable to feel empathy for a living being which is frightened, starving hungry, without its mother and terrified"
And they don't just have none for animals. They have none for their own species too.

Concerning when Arnie speaks a lot more sense, and sounds far more statesmanlike than the 'leader of the free world'.

Arnie is an immigrant. He spoke from a position of relative expertise. Yet this is the era when we're not supposed to listen to experts because they might inform us of something we don't like to hear.

Well this is the situation you find yourself in, as an individual, as a country, as a world, when you ignore the advice of experts. Perhaps we should start listening again.

Why don't you just feed them all before 8pm, take all the food up at 8pm, and put down litter trays? That's what we do. The remaining cat then gets fed when the other one goes to the vet in the morning. Our cats stay in at night so they don't get up to any mischief, is that the difference?

Hope the op goes well? <ok>

Yes , our cats have total freedom ( not a criticism btw ) and we live in a 2 bedroom semi detached bungalow , so the option of locking any of them in a room , litter trays etc ( except for Purdey tonight ) is simply not an option .

And we have 3 cats .

No criticism taken. Some let cats out at night others don't. We don't because that is usually when the little devils roam and get into scraps. They are both used to it and don't care about being in. One has just come in now and settled in the conservatory. :)

Right, I'm on my 5th day of a bloody horrible virus, and I'm fed up up with it. Terrible timing with the birth of my son too on Sat.

Unregulated, my temp hits 38 plus, so I'm doubling up on paracetamol and Ibuprofen.
Can anyone recommend anything including placebos.

Now said to be a terrorist attack...2 dead and driver believed to be hiding in restaurant. Probably usual devil worshipper (refuse to call them Muslims as that insults so many decent people), but outside chance could be the group trying to drive tourists away from Barcelona.

Should clarify that's what Sky said local police reported. Nobody else saying that just yet, so who knows.

    They've arrested someone though.

    Because our JasperNo1 is a slave. ;)

Indeed, hope the op goes well.
Incidentally, my old cat, which I gave to a relative because they wanted it so much [long story] and I was unable to look after it because of my workload, walked up to me today like an old lost friend, while I was doing some plumbing in the same house. She's about 15-16 now, pure pedigree [which doesn't bode well for longevity] but she let me pick her up and she snuggled in like she was remembering what it was like when she was 3-6 months old. She even watched me work.
I have to say that when I broke up with my partner, my odd old little cat saved my life with her companionship.

Honestly.? Whisky. It won't make you feel that much better but it'll soften the blow. I'm not kidding either. Don't drink too much, but drink enough that you forget how bad you feel. And read, listen or watch something uplifting while you do it.

That or a decent Vodka (my preference would be Finlandia). The key as TheSecondStain says is to not drink too much but to find the sweet spot.
The only times this hasn't worked has been with the Flu and Bronchitis.
