Ibra's all round play is the best we have had in a while. Rooney is finished, martial and Rashford are bit raw in terms of positioning. Ibra's finishing is concerning no doubt but he allows other players to do their thing by making space by dragging players away. A reason for our long shot goals this season
He still needs to have players up front with him. Creating space doesn't mean much if there's nobody there to take advantage. He's either far too isolated (e.g. Chavbus game) or smothered by 4/5 defenders on him (e.g. Burnley game).
I agree. Most frustrating thing for me is the lack of movement from those around him when he wins a long ball header. His partnership with mata is good in terms of quick one two passing to open up a defence and his occupying the defenders means lesser teams don't rush us and score like under Moyes and LVG That said he needs to put those chances away.
Spot on with that. I'd go a bit further and say our general movement is poor. When we win the ball back, a couple of things happen. At times, there's no desire to get forward. Secondly, players end up taking an extra touch and losing the element of catching the opposition out of position and giving them time to regroup. It was said of Scholes that he knew where he was going to play the ball before he'd received it. Carrick, Pogba, Mata and Herrera are very much like that as well. So I'm very much at a loss why we don't do it more. Is it the lack of movement in front of them? That's the only thing I can put it down to.
Time for Zlatan to be benched and used as an impact sub for a while. Martial left, Rashford through the middle and Lingard right. Mata, Herrera and Carrick/Schneiderlin behind them. Where the **** is Mkhi ?
Where is Pogba in that picture? I'm thinking you've put him in deeper role? I really Pogba plays better when he is given freedom to roam as he showed again today. I would definitely start Mata and Herrera every day all day too. Herrera especially. I love his energy and passion for the ball and when he is on the ball.
To be honest, I am finding it hard to fit Pogba in right now. I am seeing the same player that Fergie couldn't guarantee game time to 4 years ago, rabbit caught in the headlights or Bambi spring to mind. I said before (and after) we bought him that I have never seen him control a game, that still stands. I really hope I am proved wrong.
Pogba is not an AM, he needs to play ahead of the defence and leave the AM role to the likes of Herrera. Ibra needs to drop back too to be closer to midfield from where he can use his strength and skill to carry the ball forward or to distribute it to Martial, Lingard and Rashford.
Sky that's the second time I've seen you get owned inside a week. I didnt think it could get worse after the matthburn you received, but now this!
