Have there been any updates on Darren Fletcher since that bowel condition was diagnosed? Is he likely to make the start of next season?

That's the most recent update. Looks like he'll try to come back for pre season and train up to full fitness with the rest of the squad. Probably the best way - the whole squad will be building up their fitness then so he'll be able to ease his way back in.

I have not read any updates from the club since he took a break to recover from the Bowel condition. But i did read a story on the BBC Sport page in March about him and this is the link

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/17513782

The story says Fletcher's focus is to be ready for next season.

Think we've triggered, or are about to trigger, the option. But I reckon he will still leave. The option is a way to ensure we get a fee on him and don't lose him on a free. Probably also gives us power to decide where he goes so he doesn't end up at one of our rivals.

Danny Welbeck Agrees 5 Year Deal

Just saw this on twitter albeit its goal.com ( i know i hope its true though ), this is fantastic news, he has so much potential, that loan spell to Sunderland was the turning point in his career, he buylked up, he was an england international there and i would like to thank them for developing him into a top quality player.

Here's to another 5 years of success for our young striker

Our 25 man squad for next season is going to be swelled by quite a few players who have until now been considered under 21, so we have been able to have a very large squad in the past. So any player born in 1990 would not count towards the 25-man squad limit this year, but they will count towards it next season.

    Goalkeepers (3 over 21's)
    de Gea (1990)
    Lindegaard
    Amos (1990)

    Defenders (7 over 21's)
    Vidic
    Ferdinand
    Evra
    Evans
    Smalling (1989)
    Rafael (1990)
Fabio (1990) (will probably be loaned out though)
    Jones (1992, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
    Fryers (1992, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
De Laet (unlikely that he will make the squad)

    Midfielders (10 over 21's)
    Carrick
    Fletcher
    Scholes
    Giggs
    Anderson
    Cleverley
    Park
    Valencia
    Nani
    Young
    Pogba (1993, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
    Tunnicliffe (1992, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
    Norwood (1991, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
Bebe (1990, but not included as he should be loaned out or sold)

    Forwards (3 over 21's)
    Rooney
    Hernandez
    Welbeck (1990)
    Macheda (1991, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
Will Keane (1993, doesn't count towards 25-man squad)
(assuming Berbatov is sold and Owen released)

So assuming we sell Berbatov, release Owen and loan out Fabio, Bebe and De Laet we'll have a squad of 23 (over 21 yr old) players, and we will likely buy a Leftback and potentially a Striker to replace outgoing players.

I agree that we need a left back to cover Evra but not a striker in my opinion. We should focus on getting a central midfielder and i think them 2 areas are the only areas which we should focus on improving.

If we sell Berbatov and get rid of Owen, we would still have 5 strikers and that includes Will Keane presuming he makes the step up to the senior squad next season.
