    From Garth Crooks:
"Those of you who partake in social media (I don't) might know I was on a train from Manchester to London and spent longer than normal (because of a delay) talking to a number of Manchester United fans. They seemed reasonably satisfied with the win against a very dangerous Watford and after a little more probing they suggested that Eric Bailly might be a candidate for my team of the week."

Do you think the train goes straight to London or makes other stops along the way?

The express to London has a lot of stops? Is Crewe near to Old Trafford?

Near enough to commute. There's plenty of ex Mancs live in all those places mentioned.

It's nearer than Swindon or Reading which are not even on the same line.

I got the train to Hull from Manchester on the day of the Stoke match, there were plenty of City supporters on it.

You're presuming they were travelling to London & then assuming that if travelling to London then they aren't from Manchester.

I drive my car 250 miles for Home games.
I often pass the TWS minibus on the way up from Bournemouth.
The Man United supporters fill a coach

Not sure why you are defending Manure plastics?

Maybe you should contact Garth and ask him where they got off if you are that interested?

I'm not defending anybody. Just showing weaknesses in your presumptions.

For once I agree with Pattie. You starting this thread says more about you than it does about some football supporters on a train who may, or may not have been travelling to London & may also have, or not have, links to Manchester.

Manchester United supporters on train shocker!! Really?

    Great thread.

Says a lot about you too. Maybe you are a closet Manure fan?

I have met many supporters of the big 4 teams who have no connection to the cities in question whatsoever.

Maybe it is you who is making the poor assumption that all Man U fans are Mancs?

Not all United supporters are from Manchester. Not all City supporters are from Hull. It's football.

Garth Crooks talking to some Mancs on a train is hardly worthy of a post, never mind a thread.

If someone is willing to make a 300 mile round for a home game I'd say that's actually showing dedication to the team, regardless of where they were born or who they 'should' support. There's a lot of Hull City 'fans' that live in Hull but still manage to find excuses not to go to games.

If you're going to games and supporting the team then to me you're not a plastic, depending on where you're from and who you support it might make you a glory supporter but at least you're actively supporting the team. My problem is the fans of the big clubs all over the country that watch the odd game on sky and talk as if they're die hard fans, all the time making up excuses so they don't ever have to actually attend a game.

To a certain extent I get the op. But the fact is that some of the die hard fans of clubs do not live in their home towns anymore. By the way, others see my travelling as some form of dedication, but it isn't. It is just that I happen to live a long way from the KCOM.
It just happens that quite a few posters on here, do not live in Hull and so instead of making a point, the op ruffled feathers.
