happy and furious at the same time. happy for the lad - seems a good kid. furious that roland taking us down the divisions gives us no hope of keeping players that good. at least in the championship we would have probably got to the summer with him (with a different owner)
Pleased for the lad. Gone are the days when I wanted to see talented lads like Lookman stay at Charlton. Now I just think they're better off away from the Belgian Circus. I would bet that the ambition of youngsters in the Academy is to break through to the first team so they can get a move to a better club.
And that's Roland's ambition too.Bring em through get them into the first team for a season or less then flog em
Happy for Lookman. He wsn't 'one of ours'. We discovered him and bought him in, and such is the madness of the Prem that we have recieved about 11 times as much as we got for Yann. Admittedly he is younger with potential, but there's a lot of players like that (cough, cough 'diego poyet' cough) who go nowhere. Anyway, none of the problems that we had with our very own Scott Parker throwing his toys out of the pram, or the detestable Danny Murphy who also couldn't wait to get out of the club that had resucitated him, Lookman played well for us, we sold him, and that's what happnes at club's like Charlton. Now the ever generous RD will use the money to fund the training ground, which should keep us nicely mired where we are, especially with Josh out for a month. Lucky the management have learnt from their lessons, or we'd be in a right bloody state.
