The majority of football players are stupid so I'm going say definitely without checking.

Also does Virgil get his loyalty bonus back if he stays?

Wasn't counterproductive, but Morgan's was full on drama queen.

The apparent lies, half truths (such as leaving out that he had refused to play) and attempts to blame the Southampton for the wrongdoing of Liverpool and his agent (I don't really blame him as he would only have acted on advice) really seemed to go a long way towards hardening the clubs stance in this issue.

It was, but it was also a spontaneous outburst and therefore easily forgiveable.

VvD actually thought about his little essay. Or his agent did.

Peter Odemwingie chilling in QPRs car park on deadline day springs to mind

I agree, and if I was him I would sack my agent publicly and blame the whole saga on being badly advised. Has the advantage of being partially true. But the statement was so useless.

I am not sure if he has lost it. I don't know if you lose it if you hand in a transfer request or whether that request has to be accepted for the bonus to go. Given how contracts seem to overwhelmingly favour players I would imagine it would only be if the club accepted the request that it would go.

As far as we know the request has either been ignored or rejected. Although the people of RAWK had an interesting point amongst their straw clutching in that if we have rejected it then it is surprising he has not kicked off further. Perhaps Ralph's statement today might prompt a last desperate push (but I am not sure what he can do at this stage)

The last roll of the dice he has is to categorically say he will never play for us again. Go full on strike, lose all pay and not play.

    Most unlikely to happen imo.

    Footballers like money.

Statement was useless and almost certainly not written by him. Badly advised is a good cover because he can easily say he thought his agent had confirmed that he had permission to speak to Liverpool and Klopp.

Didn't Veratti do this after Barca tried to get him?

I agree again. Given it a damn good ignoring, as we say in my office. Virgil must realise it's all over.

The statement was a thing of beauty. Said more about his lack of moral compass and intelligence than a thousand statements from the club.

Should Virgil remain here come September 1st, should there be any PR or charm offensive?
I believe that the attitude of the fans towards Virgil will be a lot harder than that of his team mates

Agree, I don't think the teammates will be bothered at all by his stance. The fans on the other hand will be fickle. First couple of games he will be slated, but if he performs well all will be forgiven. Then we can all go into meltdown when it all happens again next summer.

Didn't they give him a Man City shirt for Christmas. It is not a surprise to them. They might even find it amusing that he messed it up

I am not sure we can really go into meltdown over this one next summer. It will not exactly be surprising. Did we meltdown over Schneiderlin leaving the year he did? I know there was a meltdown about the lack of adequate replacement (Koeman's fault as Clasie is his man) but I don't recall about the transfer itself....

As The Stranger says in The Big Lebowski, “Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you”

I'm just lucky I guess, if luck actually is a thing but I've certainly been eating a lot of bear lately.
