The same guy who was adamant the deal for VVD to Liverpool was done back in June? Hmm.

Who is vanderkamp? Isn't he just another Liverpool fan on twitter?

A club could come in and offer £90 million for him. You never say never, but seems any club will have to pay well over the asking price for Saints to even consider it.

I think it's more and more likely he'll still be here in September. What happens after that depends to some extent on how he reacts. Does he get his head down and get on with it or does he go down the somewhat toxic path of going on strike? There aren't many players that have chosen that route so you'd hope he sees sense.

Gao say no, Ralph say no. If I'd just bought a football club I wouldn't sell my best player either. Maybe SFC's dangly bits have just got a bit bigger?

"Added". Guys, this is obviously a definite no to the sale, but the way it is worded makes it look dodgy. If he said "yes" or nodded before he "added" that phrase then that is transparent, but very easy for an interviewer to abuse.

Makes me more confident of him staying - if Saints were even 50/50 they'd not have had Krueger do these interviews.

He said the same thing about Morgan after his paddy and a few doubted him. He was new back then and I could kind of understand it, but saints have not waivered all summer, it seems unlikely they'll suddenly buckle with a week and bit to go in the window

I'd be a bit gutted for Stephens if we kept VvD and bought in Hoedt.. Where does that leave him..

I can envisage a situation where VVD is out the door in January or very early next summer. I can also see Yoshida being phased out over the next season or two, with Stephens being the long term first choice option (alongside Hoedt?).

So very short term possibly unfortunate for Stephens, longer term probably not so bad

Third choice defender (hopefully) for an established PL club.

Maya still played a decent amount whilst living in the shadow of Fonte and Virgil/Toby/Lovren.

At a top club in which he will have a year of playing cup football and perhaps the odd premier league game depending on injuries, all that whilst learning from a world class centre back week in week out. Then next season after we will sell van dijk, Stephens will get his shot to be our starting centre back.

Pretty good situation if you ask me!
