What an ending to the transfer window. Been talking to a mate who is an Chelsea fan and he is pretty stunned. Didn't expect it to happen. But I think this tweet sums up my feelings...
The Meireles thing has definitely left a sour taste.Basically he has left for money.Cos we wouldnt up his contract We have done brilliant in this window, but what bugs me is I am convinced Meireles has put in the transfer request, latest early today( we waited til 2230 to announce it),we should have got someone in,we needed someone in,if we get 1 or 2 injuries in attckin positions we could be in trouble. On sat we only had Carroll n Maxi off the bench, with only Raul n Stevie injured,we need more strength in depth than that.Thank God we arent in Europe or we would really be strugglin
I think the fact we aren't in Europe is probably why we can afford to let him go. I didn't want us to sell but we've seen before the sway of the oil mans grubby cash so can't say this is much of a surprise. Another mercenary comes and goes...we'll do without him. I do think Spearing can do a job as he's shown so Adam can play the advanced role if need be and Stevie G's back soon anyway so I'm not overly concerned by this. At the end of the day if Meireles was good enough for Woy then he's good enough for Chelsea
I think we are lookin good at the back, but the creative attackin positions look a bit weak, 1 or 2 more players would have been perfect. I can certainly see Sterling gettin on at least the bench before Xmas, and maybe Adam Morgan too
It just means if need be, Kenny has a few bob to spend spend in January. He's got a minimum of £16 million (Mereiles+ Ngog cash).
are you going to update this with Bellamy, Meireles and the youth kid who came in but went out on loan?
