The first leg was the blueprint for the perfect counter attacking formation, we should try to emulate it.

 

VVD having scan. Doesn't think it's serious but may not be OK for Wednesday. Davis may be OK.

Anyone think that JWP and Pierre have played their way into the starting line up, or should we go for the experience of Davis and Clasie?

I thought Clasie was brilliant in the first leg tbh so would probably play him.

For me the key thing is how we approach this. If we go there and try to defend the 1-0 for 90 minutes we'll come unstuck imo.

I think we'll need to score to go through. Exact same tactics as the first leg please, where we pretty much played like an away team anyway.

I think we should play 5 at the back - Cedric and Mcqueen full backs with Yoshida, Bertrand and VVD/Stephens in the middle. Clasie, Romeu, Pierre and JWP in the midfield with Redmond on his own up front.

 

I wouldn't choose this game to introduce a new system for the first time this season personally.

 

I think that JWP should definately start, his confidence is bound to be up after yesterday and we could possibly nick something from his dead balls.

 

You could always contradict yourself and get a ruck going that way!

 

This is the closest we will get to gaining a place in Europe this season (a bird in the hand etc.) and some silverware. It has to be our strongest team playing 4 3 3 with the same team as Saturday but with Bertrand taking VVD's place if he is unfit and McQueen playing at left back.

 

Koeman didn't mind playing people out of position...going for experience. Not so sure that Puel agrees....he would rather play a CB as a CB.

Since the last leg I have convinced myself that I am glad we didn't win 2 or 3-0. We could have been trapped into thinking that the team would only be there to air their shirts. Now we know we've got to keep it tight and hush the crowd and crank up the pressure on them. Yeah, I know it's crap, but after slaughtering them 1-0 I'll take any straw that passes. Just hope we put their back line under pressure. As Swansea discovered they are there for the taking
