Match Day Thread Liverpool (0) vs (2) Southampton EFL Cup Semi-final Second Leg 25/01/2017 KO 8:00PM

Hello all and welcome back to another match-day thread by Saintsfcfan! Boy do we have a cracking cup-tie this week. Saints, leading 1-0 on aggregate, travel to Anfield for the biggest game this season and arguably recent history. A chance to walk back out again at Wembley and win another trophy. What a match we have in store.

Saints road to 90 minutes away from Wembley:
2-0 vs Palace
1-0 vs Sunderland
2-0 vs Arsenal
1-0 vs Liverpool

Going by that sequence we can expect a 2-0 win. Easy. Seriously though this will be a tough game, and we will have to be at out very very best to get through. One goal is a very slender margin and an early leveller could be seriously damaging. Liverpool have Matip back after his international dispute, alongside Coutihno who is always a danger wherever he is on the pitch. Their fans will be up for it and they will be wanting that final against Manchester United or Hull. They may have lost against Swansea at the weekend, but this is a different kettle of fish. This is a major chance at a final. Either team could take it.

Saints enter the game on the back of two home wins, recently smashing Leicester 3-0, with Jay, Dusan and JWP back in the goals. Saints remain the only team who are yet to concede in the EFL Cup. Tempting fate? Maybe but that record will be put strongly to the test after Virgil limped off against Leicester. He is a doubt but let's think positively.

Well my record this season is 9-2-2. Not that I'm counting of course.

 

I'd say the best course is to merge this into the other one, then we have the saintsfcfan intro in the original lucky thread... job's a good'un

Bloody 'ell you lot, I'm sh#tting bricks over this game as it is!

 

Talking of being superstitious the lovely Mrs Godders is attributing our win today to the fact that I had my pyjamas on under my trousers. She is insisting that I wear them to next weeks Cup tie. I have already been sleeping in them for over a fortnight so they might start to hum a bit by next week.
