So the Football League have announced today that from 1st December to 2nd January, there will be 19 live TV games to be shown on Sky. I was thinking with that many games, we "may" get a look in of having a live game, for me preferably an away game. How wrong I was and how biased the games are. Out of the 19 games, 17 of them are Championship games and the other 2 are for League 1 (not us though) and no games for League 2 which isnt fair really is it. You would think they could have shared it around the 3 leagues. But no. You would also think that the 17 Championship games would be shared around that league so that they all get a go at being on TV. But no. Only 16 teams are being shown over the 17 games. Here is the breakdown.... Newcastle have 4 games Villa have 4 games Brighton have 3 games Leeds have 3 games Norwich have 3 games QPR have 3 games Birmingham have 2 games Blackburn have 2 games Derby have 2 games Forest have 2 games Brentford have 1 game Huddersfield have 1 game Preston have 1 game Sheff Wed have 1 game Wigan have 1 game Wolves have 1 game You would think City would have been given a live game seeing that they are currently 5th and flying at the moment. I know they got Cardiff coming up on Sky but not to be picked during December when the likes of Newcastle and Villa get picked 4 times each is very unfair. please log in to view this image
Even the League 1 matches involve old Championship has beens. Coventry are hardly pulling up any trees and Bolton are on the slide. Sky need to pay attention to what's going on out here...
It has always been like this. The TV picks are always banal and biased, but the EFL don't do anything to ensure that Sky distribute live matches evenly and fairly across each Championship club, and each division. They are simply not assertive enough.
