Yesterday:- entertainment 7/10 (very one sided game, never in doubt) atmosphere 6/10 ( see above) Very sunny day, massive disparity in playing resources and off field management. Clubs not on the same continent when it comes to constructive, ethical and purposeful ownership. Therefore a 3-1 defeat seems like a predictable outcome- unlike a tonking from Salford City Wildcats, who will have a similar budget to the Black and Whites.
Hunter, for all their vaunted wealth, don't employ pitchside large flag-wavers to create that all important feeling of fan fervour. Their announcer doesn't bellow into his mike either. They have a rock band, small stage in their large fan area. We have a pared-down brass band parping out Hovis ad favourites just outside the main entrance. They could learn a lot from us.
They had far more flag wavers than we have and their announcer was no better than ours, though we lack the half time pantomime horse race.
Correction : Entertainment 5/10, Atmosphere 6/10 (att. 54, 393) Swinton Lions 18- 52 HKR: Entertainment 8/10, Atmosphere 7/10 (att. 1, 375) I **** you not.
If you think the atmosphere at Swinton Serpents was better than the Etihad, it must mean you are a shy librarian with a hangover, and with hermit tendencies.
To be fair to the mighty Swinton Lions it was their big day with the visit of Rovers, their previous home gate was 479, the atmosphere must have been electric, it really is a mystery why chubby league isn't massive in Manchester.
Playing on perfect pitches away !!! 5 points Playing on ( supposed ) ****e pitch at K COM !!! 25 points. Case closed surely .
