We will buy free agents/low profile players who are older like Manninger, Milner, Klavan, Lambert etc. but most of our budget goes on players that are 24 or younger. Its a good financial strategy for the owners as they can copy the Porto/Lyon/Udinese etc. method of buying young players relatively cheaply, developing them then selling on for a massive profit. Its frustrating for us as fans though because anytime a certain players reaches a certain level he will get sold on (Sterling, Suarez etc. possibly Coutinho in near future, the big contract is hinting toward it) and we never get to see a manager being allowed to build a long term team around our star players.

 

If that is our owners intention maybe best for all concerned if they sold up and let us at least try and build a team to compete at the top rather than always looking at profit first and selling our assets.

 

Don't really care about captaincy...there should be leaders in every area of the pitch.

None of our lads are like that..we rely on it being through performance which is fine when it's good.

Not a fan of Henderson..don't hate him but don't think he's anything but average.

It's the problem with our entire midfield...it's beige..

Needs some spice.

 

Well, that should be the aim. Only question is, how far down the priority list is this issue?
