I thought he was a loanee.

Just imagine how gutted I am.

I thought we could send him back tomorrow!

It's being reported in Turkey that Lens has agreed terms with Besiktas.

Apparently but they are still trying to get him on a cheap or loan.

We have an option, we either tell them to **** off or accept a **** loan fee deal.

I won't hold my breath on the first one.

Best player out the door for a measly £1m loan fee that won't help us at all

I'd be pissed off if he goes for peanuts but then if the money isn't going to be reinvested it barely matters if we sell for £6m or £20m.

We need to hold our nerve and wait for the right deal. Someone will panic buy late on

Sounds easy when its not my money at stake though.....

Way I see it the sooner we shift the debt the sooner we get rid of Short, so if getting rid of one piece of poison can contribute to getting rid of another piece of poison I'll reluctantly go with it. Personally, Short should be taking a loss on his investment and selling us cheeper, but it's clear he's not going to do that so the sooner he recoups his money and ****s off the better imo. Best of a bad situation.

We were never going to have money to reinvest this season, it was always a write off on the pitch. Been saying it from the second relegation was confirmed and before. Get ready for a struggle. I'm ready, had months to prepare.

I'm well aware we're going to struggle, been saying it for months that I'm expecting a struggle start of the season but for us to pick up as it goes along and finish somewhere midtable.

Realistically he should speculate to accumulate - we're worth more as a PL club so should he not be trying to get us back there - I'd say so but then I'm not ES.

Getting £50m in outgoings and halving the wage bill - there should be more than £750k to spend regardless of the situation.

I'd say so too but he's not a normal business man. He's made his billions from stripping assets, he doesn't know how to speculate to accumulate. He put his football decisions in dodgy hands for years. Now he's taken control and he's doing the only thing he knows. Cuts, just like a Tory. It's not surprising, me and Joe went into this on the old bbc606 when he bought us but we were dismissed, folk could only see he was a Billionaire and wouldn't look at the way he actually does business. He's never built a business in the conventional sense in his life. He's a predator who picks the bones of those who are dying at the cruel hands of capitalism. He knocks business down not builds them up. He was never going to fund a big spend, he's been laying people off.

Apparently he's now gone and it's for 5 million. That's a little bit less than Borini.

Should have been more in my opinion - £8m minimum.

We made a loss of over £5m and he's only made 20 appearances.

This was and should have been a next level signing, for many reasons it's not worked. Ohh what could have been...

If we've shopped him around and the absolute most we could get is 5 mil then fair enough, take the money and get him off the books. I suspect we did give it a good try because it's been on the cards for a while.

    Lens cost us £11m
Was loaned to turkey and did well
    Still a Dutch international
    Still young/in his prime
    Current transfer market is overinflated

    We get £3.5m for him..

Sad but true. Our club is pathetic.

We should have told any club that offered under his real market value to feck off. Bidding should have started at at least 8m in my opinion. If nobody was prepared to pay that then he should have been made to stay till the next window opens.

We can't afford to keep players on the books who don't want to be here. It's quite possible that the few teams that have made offers won't be interested by the time the next window comes around and what then, run out his contract and let him go for free?

As far as i know he has about 2years left on his contract so thats not gona run down anytime soon.
Id have let him tear the Championship apart for 5 months and fired us up to a decent place in the league aswell as putting himself in the shop window even more .
3.5m is a joke of a fee for a 29 year old Dutch international. Teams like Preston are demanding similar fees for their best players!
