MAKE THAT 9 CLEAN SHEETS 1 goal conceded last 12 games and only 6 points from auto will be down to 3 Saturday
Have to largely disagree with you on this one. What you see on tv is what the cameraman catches, and the director chooses to show. On tv you will never see off-ball runs, shape of team, punch-ups etc., as ALL cameras follow the ball. So if there is an on-ball incident, then yes, you will get all sorts of angles, but it' too late anyway - the decision has already been made by the ref. Now when it comes to directors, I knew one who got ripped to pieces in Scotland a few years ago. He was preparing a Saturday lunchtime program and foolishly allowed himself to be quoted saying "we like to show the build-up to all of the matches to be played on the day, so fans can decide which game they'd like to go and see". Seriously, he did say that, and yes, he didn't like football, and yes, he hadn't a clue that people only follow one team (except for Eire ). I know this as I used to go to school with Scott, the director.
WJ. Totally agree that you don't get to see a broader perspective of the game, players running off the ball etc, which is why I always make that clear when giving an opinion. But because the camera follows the ball it means we can see how often doukara miss places his pass, Sackho ducking out of tackles, so unless they did a hell of a lot of running off the ball then the rest of the team carried them.
Interesting. I was against selecting Sacko for exactly the reason you suggest, plus his bad decision-making & lack of end product. Then I read a piece where someone I respected (can't remember who - might even have been Monk) who pointed out that someone with his pace scares the shiit out of the opposition. Not only does his presence stop their FB overlapping, they often double mark him - especially if he stays high up the park. This results in them playing out of their normal shape, denting their confidence in themselves just a little - and giving us one of those little edges that can often mean so much. But, like you, I'm still enormously frustrated by him even though I now know of his tactical worth. If only he could deliver goals & decent crosses. Then again, if he could, he'd probably be worth that €60m buyout value he has - and he would never have played for us. Let's not talk Doukara though. I honestly like him. Again, if he was brill in all departments, like Sacko he'd never have signed for us. He blows hot & cold & makes mistake after mistake, but he has skills & enormous capability. If only he'd .....
The Duke is a good player Imo,and as someone pointed out on sat,Sacko can be so annoying, but he stretches the game and does stop them fullbacks getting forward.
