... Ah so because we haven't seen enough of them I can't say they are better than Bellusci and Bamba but you can claim they are worse? How does that one work then? Evans got more out the players he had, Monk is not getting the full potential out... I remember groaning when Evans played Doukara, then wondering where his form had been hiding. I remember Diacouraga looking head and shoulders above Bridcutt, Evans won me over and without him I fear we may have been relegated Just an opinion
Evans is lurking in the wings making conciliatory noises, and the madman has been known to re-hire managers in the past....
Which defenders are worse than last years? Antonnson, Roofe, Wood, Doukara or Antenucci, Wood, Doukara? Midfield, we sold Cook, seemed impossible to hold on to him, O'Kane we need to see what he offers. Bridcutt was a loanee last year, this time around he is permanent, all things considered where are we weaker in midfield? Not saying we are a promotion team but certainly better than last seasons.[/QUOTE] Ristac, as much as I'd like to agree with you, I think the points both you and chippy make about it being too early to tell is probably the correct one. Jansson has one played one game and Bartley a handful. I seem to remember Bellusci was once dubbed 'warrior' and there was a clamour to sign bamba when he was on loan and we know how that turned out. We all hope the signings are better but results, performances by all accounts and league position suggests little has changed.
I feel Bellusci is better than Bamba, I don't mind Bellusci but he always has a mistake in him, put him next to Bamba who always has 2 mistakes in him and it's a disaster. The goals we have conceded, how many were down to Green? Yes the league table doesn't lie however a BIG but... Is that down to the quality available to us or down to dubious team selection, formation and tactics? My personal opinion is our performances are down to Monk not being half as good as some believe. IF it is down to the quality of player who is to blame, who signed all those central midfield players, who signed Roofe and Antonnson and Sacko and Hernandez. Who changed the formation so that there is no room for half the signings to play? If the players are better and performances are worse it is down to Monk. If we have signed more deadwood then that too was Monks decision.
I disagree. Evening by the way. One save he made on Saturday shows what he can do. All that's happening at the moment is a lack of confidence... & still trying to get used to his back 4. Give him time & we'll see why he played for England
Sorry, Boggers. Disagree. Your defence of him is like saying that Bamba put in a good tackle now & then. He's let in some shockers this season & they've been nothing to do with confidence - bad angles, slow reactions etc. And lets not go into his poor interception of crosses, distribution etc. He should be 4th choice. I watched young double-barrell play for the u23s yesterday & he was most accomplished in all aspects. Only a matter of time, I hope.
WJ. This is another odd decision for me (in a season of odd decisions admittedly) we spent the summer working our arses off to get BPF to sign a new contract and now he's not even getting on the subs bench??
Seems there is going to be a lot of humble pie eaten after some of the statements were made on this blog WILL THEY BE MAN ENOUGH TO DO THAT THOUGH............LETS WAIT AND SEE!!!!
To be perfectly honest WJ, and I agree with you by the way, I wouldn't be surprised if this 30 match clause in his contract has something to do with why he continually gets picked........
Green plays every game because he is the best keeper we have, by a country mile. BPF will one day be our no.1, but he isn't ready yet.
If Green gets injured our chance of promotion is gone. Simple as..... Anyone that knows anything about goalkeeping and went to games would know. #Nuffsed
