Seems Cardiff has bought him for 2 million. Circulating on social media very disappointed last year with him to be frank.
Have heard the rumours, but I just cant see him being a Warnock type player. And I don't think you want to upset Warnock either and Tomlin seems to fall out with coaches/Managers everywhere he goes, from Middlesbrough to Bournemouth.
Not disappointed to be fair. Glad to have had him, but too hit and miss and we played better without him.
I would have mixed feelings. If fit and in form, he'd be an asset to any club in the Championship, but that's a fairly big 'if'. I can easily see him scoring some wonder goals elsewhere and fans asking 'why did we let him go?', but being objective, Paterson was rightfully ahead of him in the pecking order come the end of last season and he's got to be on a sizeably salary.
I always got the impression that he would only perform when he felt like it, somewhat akin to several other players who have been at Ashton Gate, and we don't need or want those types as they disrupt proceedings at their will. I also noticed that Pierre from Wycombe has been told he won't be needed and I thought that the step up for him was probably a bridge too far and Lee must feel the same way. Ah well onwards and upwards.
Not really. He is not flexible enough to adapt to the challenges faced. Championship teams play multiple systems. Tomlin attempts to play between lines. These spaces are often occupied by deep lying defensive midfielders e,g teams playing variations of 4 -1 - 4 -1, 4 - 2 - 3 -1, 3 -1- 4 -1-1 and on. His game is nullified by current football trends that flood midfield and create defensive overloads. These playmakers of Tomlins guise do not exist anymore for good reason.
Tomlin on his day could win a game for you. Trouble is that those days were very rare last season. To me he felt like a bit of a luxury player like JET. Good luck to him - and there is no hard evidence that I am aware of that he fell out with LJ - just some posts on here and OTIB - by people who openly hated Lee.
I cant believe we would pay £2m for Tomlin. We are in the market for a no.10 type player though. If the rumour was a swap with Pilkington or Noone maybe. I have doubts about this rumour. The in the know sources on one of our sites saying hes been told etc is not reliable at all. Even if it is - I cant see us valuing the player at £2m.
I defer to your greater knowledge of how the systems are played and how they affect certain players which I presume comes from seeing a lot of City's matches. I don't have that luxury and seeing posts like yours always makes me better informed on the finer points of how the game is played these days. Thanks.
I read that it's started by someone on twitter with one person following that user. So I will take it with a pinch of salt till he's signed for them.
I wouldn't of pointed it out to him. No he doesn't he's as daft as you can get. He will be telling everyone in October we are dark horses this season, then in November he will be on is annually get the manager out parade.
The game is more complex than he is lazy, he does not want it enough ... Lee Tomlin in games would frequently drop very deep into midfield. A clear example of where he clearly wanted the ball, he was not lazy, he wanted to affect to the game, however for variable reasons he could not. The game does not just let you play how you want. An opinion could be he reached the ceiling of his own skill and physical ability which took an aptitude 99%+ of the population do not have.
Lee Tomlin: Cardiff City sign Bristol City playmaker on three-year deal Next one to go Aden Flint -tells me all i need to know about Junior,we are fooked under his leadership. please log in to view this image Lee Tomlin has also played for Rushden & Diamonds, Peterborough, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth Cardiff City have signed attacking midfielder Lee Tomlin from Championship rivals Bristol City for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal. BBC Radio Bristol reports that the fee for Tomlin, who scored seven times last season, could rise to £2.9 million. Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock described Tomlin, 28, as his "number one" target. "If I had a choice of any other player I've been after over the summer, Tomlin would have been at the top of my list," Warnock told BBC Radio Wales. He also confirmed Cardiff have turned down bids for striker Kenneth Zohore and defender Sean Morrison. Warnock had hoped to bring in Republic of Ireland winder Jonny Hayes, who instead joined Celtic on a three-year deal from Aberdeen. Tomlin's move to the Bluebirds came despite Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson recently saying the former Middlesbrough and Bournemouth player was still part of his plans. "It's funny how things work. You think you've lost a player and you're disappointed," Warnock added. "And out of the blue your number one target becomes available. That's fate at times and let's hope they've played us a good hand. "Although Jonny Hayes was top of my list, he was more of a wide player. This player (Tomlin) specialises in that middle area, creating something for our wide players and strikers. "I've been looking at certain areas and certain players because we need goals. We're a difficult side to play against, but you still need a player who can unlock the door and get the you the three points. "He was top of my list at one stage. But I didn't think we'd be able to get him from Bristol City at the time. "We were going to have to pay a substantial loan fee for him. But in the end I don't think Bristol City fancied that idea, so Mehmet (Dalman) decided to go in and buy him." 'We won't be signing any other players' Tomlin is the seventh player Cardiff have signed this summer and Warnock expects him to be the last. He said: "We won't be signing any other players, although you never know in football. We might get an offer we can't turn down and we have to replace him, or a player becomes available." Warnock says club owner Vincent Tan, chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo have been "so supportive" in the off-season. "It's not been easy. I'll be glad when the games start and we get back to normality," he continued. Zohore was Cardiff's top scorer in 2016-17 with 12 goals, and the 23-year-old striker has been the subject of a bid from Hull City. "I can't tell you a specific account but if they bid £15m to £20m, I'll think about it. But I don't think anyone in the Championship would bid that," Warnock said. Morrison has been heavily linked with Sheffield Wednesday, but Warnock has made it clear he wants his captain to stay. "I'm not permitted to say who the clubs (who have made a bid) are," he added. "The offers keep going up for Sean. "I've kept him informed of the situation and hopefully over the next week or two we can put that to bed. "But you never know in football. Clubs keep on improving offers, and at some stage you have to be realistic."
