Snippet from the Bird in the Mirror: Sources say Newcastle are “straight down the line” in their payments to players, and don’t deal in image rights. Players are left to sort out their own affairs. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-boss-rafa-benitez-still-10302356
I have to say I always thought bail involved some sort of bond being paid to be released after being charged. It seems you are right and I may have watched too many American police shows. I know very little about all this, being squeaky clean with the law/never been caught.
You're just watching the wrong shows I'm a boring bastard who loves Morse/Lewis/Endeavour, George Gentley and anything like that.
Never watched any of those. Can't stand detective shows. Haven't actually watched the US ones either to be honest. Not since Cagney & Lacey in the 80s anyway.
Sounds like we might actually be in the clear. This is all to do with Marseilles and the way they have handled transfer funds.
I reckon this is far from over. Lee Charnley was questioned, he spilt everything on the promise of a reduced sentence. To get away scot free he has been targeted with wearing a wire and proving Mike Ashley and Greggs have some kind of tax/vat free agreement for the provision of 1m Greggs sausage rolls a year.
Can we not just give him to HMRC as full and final settlement of our tax bill? He would be an asset for their Sunday League team.
In criminal law you cannot charge something like a football club with an offence, it would be like arresting a computer, it is all based on people commiting a crime.
I'm not sure that's true. I think corporations can be charged and punished if found guilty. Only individuals can be sent to prison though.
It's a part of this horrible mutant that money has brought to the game. We were promoted on Monday and the same week we've got this hanging over us! Looks like player trading for kickbacks. Wonder who was brought in for dubious football reasons, but instead for pure tax fiddling cash in back pocket reasons? Savait? Lazaar? We can't even focus our minds on winning the last two games and hope Brighton just get draws. Disgraceful.
Lazaar is a Benitez signing, most of the allegations are before Benitez's time and I would be really really surprised if Rafa was involved.
I wouldn't think for a moment that Rafa would have any involvement in this kind of thing. But there have been signings that just don't get games - signed by Carr. Manager told they're at his disposal...
A Company can be charged with committing a criminal offence. There are a limited number of offences which a Company can commit. Without knowing more it's not possible to say whether it applies in this instance but thinking of the possible range of offences in the stated situation then NUFC could be charged with an offence(s).
Companies can be charged with criminal offences under the principle of vicarious liability and the actions of it's employees. It is limited in scope though: http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/a_to_c/corporate_prosecutions/
