Let's just say that during the past 11-12 years, we came close to winning the PL title 4 times. Had it not been mistakes made by Wenger and co then we should have at least 1 or 2 PL titles in that duration. This is why its a bad idea to give one man so much power, like Wenger has. Dein and co would have forced Wenger to take action in the transfer window and get players in to help us. You can't possibly forget the many disastrous transfer windows we had that effectively ended our title and cup hopes? It was a flawed, ultra cautious model that failed to reap success on the pitch, but was great for the shareholders.

We had some terrible luck with injuries to key players, but I agree that Wenger and the board oversaw some disastrous transfer windows. Not only failing to replace players in key positions, but also selling our best players. They went with an ultra conservative approach of balancing the books, clearly over and above the desire to win trophies.

And it is good for football managers to keep on developing, by taking on new challenges, new circumstances, new personnel. I believe if Wenger were to become the manager at let's say, Lyon, I have no doubt he would do brilliantly. It just feels as if the whole scene around your club is a little bit stale. The players need to experience someone new, someone different. If Real Madrid were somehow to miss out on winning La Liga and the CL, Zidane could well be out of a job. If RM are beaten in El Clasico this weekend, as Barca are going to be in one very angry mood after their CL humbling, some RM suporters would have him hung, drawn and quartered.

It's stale at Arsenal because he's made it stale at Arsenal. He's been persistently trying to do the same things over and over again, whether works or not. Just imagine if Fergie did this with Man U? He wouldn't have lasted as long as he did and retire at the top of his game, with a PL title. Wenger is shadow of his former self and is no longer a top manager.
