R For some people their ethics around killing for food are different to their ethics around killing for fun. I get that you don't think that way, but many people do.
But its not a discussion, some have veiws so deeply entrenched they are blinkered to any other point but their own.
I kept chickens for years They layed eggs all year round ...I know cos I had to traipse out in the snow to gather them up!
Aye, I've still got chickens and I do check for eggs in winter, but I find they're much less regular. You can't beat a proper free range egg. Unless you have a whisk.
Same as mine, eggs virtually every day during the warn months, perhaps every other/third day in the colder months - mine are a heavy banty (Marans) not chicken though. The egg quality's brilliant, nothing from a supermarket comes close.
There's a place in Brantingham that sells eggs in big trays and they almost all have two yokes, how do they manage that?
It's cos' some of the chickens are laying one egg instead of two - I often get them, the big boys don't like double yolkers, they're losing out an egg!
You must be yoking. After reading this thread it's easy to see where scriptwriters get their inspiration from...
My daughter has chickens, and I went to collect the eggs for her a few weeks ago, and one of the chickens laid this, must have been painful.
