Not sure defensive midfielders are really what we need but it's something.

Can he play between the sticks if needed?

If not then I don't see the point.

We really need Mason fit, he's the one to push forward and create things. Until then we probably need Henrikson to shine but we still don't know what he can do at this level.

To me it suggests that Clucas, if he stays, isn't going to be a central midder anymore.

    Probably a more attacking role.

Presumably someone will have to budge from the middle, unless a couple go, but if Clucas does stay I'd want him smack in the middle dictating play. He's way less effective out wide.

If we kept all of our current midfielders we'll have a quality midfield. Clucas, Evandro, Henriksen, Meyler and Stewart, with Mason to come in whenever he's ready. That's insane depth. Just a shame about the rest of the squad...

I think we need a defensive mid after Toms departure. Particularly as the slut likes to use two of the bastards.

Really need wingers now, I do not want to see Clucas out there again, he's not fast or skilful enough to play out wide and far far better in the middle.

Evandro and Hendrickson I think are more than capable at filling in the wide areas when needs must. So it keeps plenty of options, there will be times with injury problems and suspensions, it won't be all those players competing for two spots in the team.

i think slutsky likes the 4231, stewart and clucas would be the 2 deeper midfielders with 3 of turbo, evandro, henricksen and mason

    Stewart Clucas
    Grosicki Evandro Mason

What a midfield that would be

I'd be delighted and surprised if we still have turbo in September!

Clucas has been one of our few goal threats, so I want him to get opportunities going forward.

I'd say the opposite. His finishing is good, he just isn't directly creative enough to be an effective winger.

In fairness didn't he score 6 or 7 from the wing last time we were down?

He scored a couple, missed a few sitters, he never really had a great deal of impact on a game though. His crosses rarely if ever got past the full back, he was never a presence or a spark down there, he just had a knack of popping up in a gap when a defender went AWOL. He can still do that from midfield if he's given permission to make runs forwards.

abel/fc upfront and from the midfield forward we could be half decent, we just need to sign some defenders. Has any of the russian posters told us about the cb training with us
