Yeah I'm really excited about getting him. Fantastic bit of business by us if we get him. I say if as never want to tempt fate, but apparently the deal is as good as done. Can't wait for the season to start now and start watching the games again.
Yeah me too, I can't believe none of the "bigger" teams have been in for him, he's proven quality with the best minutes to goals ratio in PL history and we're getting him for a snip. I can't wait to see him in a Leicester shirt. I'm well impressed with our dealings so far, Maguire for £12-17m, Iborra for £10.5-12.5m depending on the report, some say €12.5m and Ilheanacho for £15-25m. All bargain prices. This means on this season's books we've only spent £37.5-39.5m, compared to the £68m we essentially wasted last summer. What a difference a year makes.
Yep, last summers recruitment was nothing short of a disaster and so far, much improved this time around. I see Shaky said in his press conference that he ideally wants to bring another 2 players (so probably means 3 as managers usually under egg things)
Still need another RB - we aren't linked with any which is really annoying. There was a kid from Luton but that has gone off the boil.
You know, I was actually thinking the same thing earlier this week. Id love us to bring in a quality / experienced right back to push Simpson, rather than using Amartey etc.
I thought Darnell Johnson was a RB but it turns out he is a CB - could do with someone that specialises in that position. On another note, we do have a lot of LBs in our reserves.
Iheanacho is really close according to our vice chairman. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/s...eicester-city-complete-manchester-city-229031
Only thing is that there will be a buy back clause in his contact - hopefully it isn't low so this is a glorified loan.
not sure if you were part of the crowd from last year but the same thing was said at the time of last years signings (well from a few leicester fans i came across). You were hoping to challenge for europe, maybe sneak a CL spot and everyone was wetting themselves over Mendy who was apparantly Kantes replacement. Everyone was all over how quick Musa was and how he was Vardy mkII, Kaputska who was a polish wonderkid (to be fair he looked good in the euros) and i'm pretty sure people were excited over Slimani.
Mendy has been injured all season. He did his knee ligaments in his home debut. Musa is an enigma. Ranieri couldn't work out his favourite position and because of the slow league start he was short of confidence. I think he's got something to offer. His pace is frightening. He gave Bellerin a 10 yard headstart and still caught up with him. Kaputska is a kid. He's looked great in the cup and I think his loan move to Freiburg will do him the power of good. He's exceptionally talented on the ball but his physicality is woeful. Slimani will come good. He's got an excellent goals to minutes ratio. A full pre-season and hopefully a good run in the side without injuries and we'll see the best from him.
By no means am i writing them off, i was just countering that this seasons signings look very good and at good value but the same thing was said of last year, many of the signings people were very excited about
Yeah I agree. Same goes for any signing though. There's no guarantee that they'll settle and produce their football straight away. Last summer we signed players from all over Europe though. This summer they've (barring Iborra) had experience with the Premier League which leads me to think they'll have an easier time settling in than last summer. Hopefully we get Iheanacho in quick and then shut up shop.
I would like us to bring at least 2 more players - a RB and a right winger for when Mahrez leaves be it this transfer window or one of the next.
yeah ndidi has been a revelation (so far) since he came in January. I actually think he was the difference to relegation, rather than the sacking of Ranieri. In Ndidi you had someone who could do what kante could do (intercept and drive with it, is physical enough). He also scored some pretty neat goals too
I'm not sure, we lost the first 6 games I think he played in by 2-0 or 3-0 and it was our worst spell. I'm not blaming him in any way as it was already wrong and he needed some settling in time but it was almost definitely the resolution of whatever happened behind the scenes with Ranieri whatever it was
