Alli not making the POTY shortlist is absurd.

I said the same on the Prem board.

Most are opting for Kante and Alli.

Obviously, there is a case for Alli for POTY based on his form in the last couple of months.
But over the whole season, who would he replace?
Lukaku is top goalscorer in the PL.
Ibrahimovic has carried Utd and has almost 30 goals.
Sanchez was the best player of the first half of the season.
Kane has scored for fun when fit.
Hazard and Kante are stand out performers in the best team in the PL this season.

I'd take Ibrahimovic and Sanchez out and replace them with Alderweireld and Mane.
The third highest scoring striker doesn't need to feature, nor does the disappearing strop merchant.
The best defender in the league and the most relied upon player should, though.

I'm not sure why Sane's in the YPOTY section, honestly.
He's done well at times and has had a very good first season, but Sterling's out performed him and still qualifies.
How do you get in ahead of your own teammate who's played better than you?

I'd probably say that Jan has marginally outperformed Toby this season, while Walker's exclusion truly baffles me as he's been the most dominant RB in the league and arguably the best defender full stop this year, there's not even a close second when it comes to RBs right now.

Moses? Imagine saying that a year ago. Bloody hell.
Coleman was very good again before his injury, too. Shame about the rest of Everton's defence and their keepers! <laugh>

Yeah Moses in fairness has been pretty good, though I'd attribute that more to the fact he's had less to do than most from a defensive aspect with Kante AND Matic in your team, so he's been able to flourish going forward with more ease.

Defenders usually get overlooked for these things just because it is easier to look at attacking players stats and say, 'Yeah, scored lots' or 'created lots' or just because attacking players can look exciting. Defenders are generally considered dull and harder to compare by 'journalists' and other experts (for journalists and other experts read ****-for-brains-ex-players-who-have-never-managed-as-they-don't-have-the-balls-to-do-it-and-other-failed-lard-arses). Unless the two players/defenders are John Stones and Kyle Walker, then they just don't see any difference. To them 'scored lots, must be good' is about as in-depth as it gets. Unless it is Wayne Rooney then it's, 'looks like Mr Potato Head, is English. Must be good'.

Alderweireld and Mane have certainly been overlooked.
Van Dijk & Coleman have been impressive too, but defenders rarely get picked.
There are a number of 'keepers who have performed at the top of their game too and deserve nominating as much as the freescoring strikers.

I'd have Alli over both Kane and Ibrahimovic, maybe Lukaku too. Despite the first Bale POTY win, I don't think you're supposed to count European goals so that's like half Ibrahimovic's goals taken out for scoring against Romanian pub sides.

    Player of the year Kante
Young player of the year Alli (with a good shout for player of the year too)

If defenders had any acceptance in this then VvD should be in with a chance of player of the year.

It will be Kante, I think I'm the only one who thinks he's good but not God. Wanyama has been just as ferocious as far as CDM's go and has matched Kante when it comes to effectiveness. I think he has done a pretty good job shielding his back 4 too. Kante certainly was pivotal in Leicester's success last year but I don't believe last year's Chelsea were crap, they were just busy backstabbing the gaffer...once he went, they picked up. Kante joined a very good team and I think as brilliant as he has been, he has been matched by Wanyama.

Alli is the standout player in his position, it might not be over the course of the season but in the last few months or so, as far as Spurs are concerned he's turned it on at a pivotal time of the season and not everyone can do that, just ask Ozil.

Defoe scored consistently over the year, enough to get a recent England recall...yet he's not on the list, so over the course of the year matters or it's over the course of the season in which case they should vote after the last game of the season and it should be Alli.

Hazard deserves to be in the mix without a doubt....he's been electric...stupid ****.
