I think that's over looking one of the main points, and that is the massive influence Cantona had on the whole club and as such the whole league.

Henry just added to an already winning side.

I say just, I'm not denying he was brilliant, but he did not have anywhere near as much overall and lasting influence as Cantona did and still has to this day. He changed United, with Ferguson, and changed the league.

I'd have to agree as an influence Cantonas was bigger.

But if we're just talking about the talent and ability of the footballer, then Henry was superior imo.

Though being fair, being born at the beginning of the 90s I never saw Cantona live.

That final third of the 1995-96 season was superb.
The number of wins he single-handedly dragged Man Utd to.

I watched Spurs at OT that season, and Man Utd had been
utterly played off the pitch in the first half, but had somehow not
conceded. Cantona got one decent chance in the 2nd half and
    1-0, game over. :(

Repaid the club after the "kung-fu kick" incident, and then some.

I'd have Henry, Bergkamp, Gerrard and Ronaldo ahead of Cantona.

Gerrard's problem was that he never played in a good enough side.

He was ridiculously good. I know you're a United fan but surely you appreciate that?

He was decent. Never won it so can't possibly have had the same influence over the premier league as others mentioned, he simply can't.

Before you all start quoting me the many **** players who have won the premier league please all understand that I'm not saying only good players have won it but I am saying to be seen as one of the best and most influential players in the league you surely should have at least won it once.

Nobody has ever won the league by themselves. It's a team game and Gerrard has never been in a good enough team.

But the Ballon d'Or is an individual award for the best player in the world.
