Would have thought he might of stayed with Barnsley... Looked decent in today's game, thought I'd give it a watch seeing as we are currently being linked to him and half the Barnsley team. Would be more than happy if we signed Brownhill and Hammill

Because Barnsley have just won a play-off at Wembley, and the feel-good factor will be on UltraMax. Also they are now in the same division as us, so there would be nothing to be gained professionally from moving to us.
So the only reason Hammil would want to switch to the south would be a personal one (which may or may not be the case but is a long shot)

But he is not a Barnsley player, he is on loan there from Preston.

I do not think Hammil is PNE was playing for Huddersfield and went on loans snapped up by Barnsley? when released ? valued around £300k?

    quick edit
    Brownhill is PNE

Also Hammil is out of contract as he was only signed on a season end deal. So with Brownhill refusing to sign a new deal with PNE and Hammil there won't be any fee unless the contribution payment for Brownhill if he's under a certain age.

I hope Junior is right about these L1 players, it's an enormous leap to the Championship.
We were saved by the likes of Baker, Tomlin, Goldbourne, Matthews and Odemwingie, they are anything but L1 players.

Better signings than the above mentioned are required.

Rumoured to have signed a 2 year deal with a 3rd year option. If true we can assume that it will be announced soon.

Are you basing that on you knowing a great deal about them and deducing that their various qualities aren't sufficient to our needs, or that they played in League One last season, you hadn't really heard much about them and therefore must not be good enough?

Personally, I'll admit I don't know much at all about them, so I'd reserve judgement until I'd seen them over an extended period of time - that they played in League One last season isn't enough for me to write them off and I'm still largely behind our policy of trying to identify talented, young players.
