If he somehow regained some of his former ability, then yes. But I don't think he will, at least, not at our club.
When he was leaving Chelsea, I thought he was a fantastic signing for Liverpool and would have thought the same if he'd come to us. Now, I think Chelsea made a very wise move letting him go. I'd love to see him regain his form, for us or for someone else, but I think he's a busted flush. We're better off without him.
I think it showed an awful lot that Liverpool were pinning all of their hopes on an England and Chelsea bench warmer. A definite shift in power. Do you guys remember the article where Gerrard stated that Cole was better than Messi? What a joke.
Okay, Cole was never better than Messi, but for a few years he was consistently the best player in an England shirt, and the most creative force we (England) had. It's a shame that his career seems to have dribbled away. If that's a joke, then it's one I don't find too funny. He always seemed to have a good attitude - love of the game, rather than love of the pay packet - as well.
I think he could have a role to play at the club. After his joke of a season with Liverpool it does look like he's lost his spark, but as we know he is very capable of changing a game on one of his better days. Although the player we witnessed at Chelsea, with a lot of drive and determination, is a distant memory. I think there's better options out there for us, his wages would be a huge stumbling block, as pointed out earlier. Someone younger and more hungry would be preferable.
You have to remember, unless mine's cracking up, that there was a lot of clamouring for Cole to play in England's starting 11 in last year's World Cup. He's suddenly lost it big time this season. Wherever he goes, he's one of these players who's going to have to take a considerable pay cut if he wants regular games. Welcome aboard FulhamCeltic.
I was one of those calling for Cole to start for England, but more on the basis of his previous England form than his then-current Chelsea form. On the basis of the last 12 months, it appears that Capello got that particular call right.
He needs a spell at a club like Fulham if he's ever going to find his way. Like I said though, I don't think he'll get it back.
In which case he needs to be realistic on wages. There are always savings to be made, he could make do with just the three cars, five bathrooms and switch from Fortnum & Mason's to Harrod's grocery department for his weekly shop. We're all in this together after all.
Joe Cole has lost his mojo when it comes to football. He is a shadow of the player that he once was. There is no place for him at the cottage. Unless he can get his feet out of his slippers, he will be the forgotten man of football.
For goodness sake Rocky, let him keep his Range Rover - how on Earth would you get around London without one?!
Lets not concern ourselves with Cole & Keanes, lifestyle, whatever it may be. We do not want to finance it.
