Hull City advertise for Player Liaison Officer to help stars with their off-pitch troubles
By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: March 15, 2017

By Hull City are advertising for a "Player Liaison Officer" to help them with everything from sorting out their Sky TV and banking to helping buy houses and giving them guides.

But anyone given access to the inner sanctum of hugely paid players' lives must be discreet.

Candidates, the club says, "must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality".

In a reflection of a club that has players from 12 countries, ranging from Senegalese star Oumar Niasse to Brazilian Evandro Goebel - and a Portuguese boss Marco Silva - the advert also asks for fluency in "at least two other languages" saying it would prefer Portuguese, Spanish or Italian.

Helping Hull City players with their off-field needs is the specialty of the Player Liaison Officer

The post is being advertised as "temporary" although it is unclear for how long.

Under "key requirements" the ad says:

"Assisting with relocation requirements for new players including academy, in terms of hotel bookings, travel arrangements, housing, schooling, banking arrangements, setting up NI numbers, showing them around the local area and helping them to integrate into the community.

"Help to source appropriate accommodation, assisting with house purchase/rental requirements including rental contracts and financial paperwork."Other roles include "liaising with service providers regarding maintenance issues, utilities etc." help with finding schools for their children and arranging language teaching.

Under "Skills & Experience" it says candidates should have a good local knowledge and flexibility to travel.

The liaison officer will also "liaising with player agents" regarding player requirements before and after player trials and/or signing of contracts.

Players need help with everything from schools to banking

Player liaison officers are employed by Premier League clubs in particular to cater for the increased demands from players who they are desperate to keep happy off the pitch.

Speaking to the Guardian last year, Bournemouth AFC liaison officer Pete Barry said: "Most of the players are quite down to earth. They are extremely polite, resourceful and only ask for things when they need them."

But, saying he was once asked to find a player a private plane in 24-hours, he added: "Some of these guys do live in a bubble, and we can't do anything about that."

Mr Barry said he once had a player approach him while on a flight to a match, asking him to fix the water pipes at his house.

"There's not a lot I can do at 30,000ft," said Mr Barry.

I nearly filled all the criteria but the two languages ****ed me up... they wouldn't except English, Rubbish and Gibberish.... go figure.!!!!

Why is it advertised as temporary? Do they expect a mass exodus should, you know,...?

Might suit a lad I use to work with, his father was Portugese and mother from Hull, and speaks both English and Portugese as well as Spanish.

I once had a night out with the girl who does this job at Chelsea, she had some very funny stories to tell, though she wouldn't let on which players the stories were about.

A lot of jobs all rolled into one there, can't see many having all the required skills. I expect the salary to be fairly high for the right person if found.
It's temporary until Ehab's new hat arrives.

This isn't what Danny did is it? He was Community Liaison, wasn't his role to work with the fans, rather than the players?

Yeah I meant the one he left us for to take at Lester. He was community / fans liaison first, then took the PR gig with zero experience whatsoever and when Nigel left he went with him to do this very role (I think).
