Now available after being unfairly sacked by QPR. Could be a JED replacement?
Well, the boy done good for Burton.

OTiC - I'm jealous of you ! Last Saturday (29th), I was on holiday in your general area of Europe. I deliberately avoided football, and was able to enjoy a Saturday without misery. One week later and it's as if I have never been away.

I shall be at Priestfield next week - ( will we get 4000 other idiots ? ). If I wasn't a STH I may not be bothering ( I 've even thought about not bothering despite my season ticket ! ) - I don't need the misery that our brand ( sorry, I meant JED's brand ) , of football has given to its' fans -- and I am even more stupid than people may think - I have already bought my tickets for the next two league away games. ........ I just know that I will wish I was in Cyprus again ( 2 lovely holidays )

Get real Old Timer. Hasselbank was hopeless at QPR and he only prospered at Burton on the basis of the good work done by his predecessor Gary Rowett (same as JED surviving for a while due to the foundation built by PT). No I think Scally is working to a masterplan which will be revealed on Wednesday after the US election is over.

We have already seen the trend towards appointing foreign managers and this is now developing towards American managers such as Bob Bradley at Swansea. I reckon Scally has been searching for a big personality who is looking for a new challenge as far away from the Mexicans as possible. There is just one person who fits the bill, yes you've guessed it...Donald Trump. Just think of it Priestfield with a wall round the Gillingham goal, we would be unbeatable! A few words from Donald at half time and Gills would demolish the likes of Brackley and Priestfield would be packed out with the Casino replacing the Rainham End. The GFC Gems would be hot.

There is of course the risk that Donald might get elected in the US and he might struggle with both jobs but Scally will have a Plan B. I reckon he could go for Chris Dickson who of course is a Gillingham legend adored by all who saw him score 7 goals in 2007. Chris has been saving himself for Gills because he has not yet reached another 7 in English football since his time at Gills but he has learnt a lot since then in places like China and Cyprus. His rapport with Gills fans would get everyone onside. It would be like 2007 again without Dimson!

If Scally wants to look further afield there is no shortage of strong candidates. Nigel Farage is free and Marlon King has also been freed and they both have strong links with Kent as residents and inmates.

Scally will need all his guile to get the right person this time. Gills fans need to remember the old saying. "Be careful what you wish for".

Just had an email from a Burton fan I know. He reckons Cloughie is orf to Forest, so maybe Jimbo will come home to Brewers. End of.

Bristol I'm sorry to say your post is just too far fetched for my liking.

Chris Dickson scored 11 goals in that first loan spell, not 7 <doh>

Strewth Bristol, strong espresso this morning or what !! :emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0100-smile I used to have visions like that 40 years ago, but stronger things than coffee were involved.

It would appear that JE, for whatever reason, continues to have Scally's backing. Despite the fact that worse performing managers have been shown the door long before the poor run of 'form' reached these levels, JE, it seems, will be taking training tomorrow as usual.

I'm beginning to wonder to what extent finances are playing a part in this decision. There are two factors that come to mind. One is that Dack wasn't sold in the summer. Whilst that should have been good news for we supporters, it did mean that we didn't get a significant wedge of cash into the bank account.

The second is more obscure, and might actually not be relevant, but as I posted elsewhere (http://www.not606.com/threads/business-news.337551/) Scally has made an application to strike off Priestfield Developments Ltd. from the Companies House register. This was a company that showed a debt of about £9m in the last published accounts (31 May 2015), and as the application is to strike off the company, not to liquidate it, that means the £9m debt has either been written off, repaid, or transferred to another company. As PS was the owner and sole shareholder of Priestfield Developments Ltd. it could be that he has taken a bath to the tune of £9m. I think that this could well have been a personal debt as the accounts do not show any interest accruing on the debt.

If either, or both, or part of these factors are relevant, or indeed there are others other than the fact that he backed the signing of a number of players over the summer and early season, then he might just not be able to want to afford whatever the cost of JE's dismissal might be.

Meantime, gates (and consequently income) continue to decline, and the door to L2 is opening.

I don't have a crystal ball to be able to predict the future management path of the Club, but what I do suggest is that in the contact of any future manager there should be a clause to the effect that in the event of the manager not achieving a certain number of points in any given number of games the Club has the option to terminate the manager's contract without compensation. I'm sure positive performance bonuses are written in, well how about a bit of protection for the Club?

Sorry Pegleg. My posts are produced to the very highest standards of journalistic integrity to ensure they are taken seriously. On this occasion the Wikipidia page for CD was used as a reference source and there are two contradictory references to his goals for Gillingham one saying seven the other eleven (and one further goal in a second loan period two years later). I am sure eleven is correct and this will make his claim to succeed JED even stronger.

Turning to Itsim, the explanation about reluctance to pay off JED is obvious with Donald not being free until next week. In fact the great man may already be playing a part behind the scenes making debt vanish (a widely recognised talent of the great man and the not quite so great Chairman). Gills accounts have always been a bit of a secret and the last time I googled them the only thing available was about ten years old. Perhaps a bit of forensic accounting at Companies House would provide entertainment.

The most plausible explanation for the cleansing of the debts and the capital structure is that Scally needs to sell up and retire sometime and a bit of transparency and a long negotiation with a successor has got to happen sometime. The interesting question must be; " is the club worth more in league 2 with money in the bank than it might be worth in league 1 with high debt from compensation for terminating contracts and funding new players?"

I always wondered if the debt was written off. Didn't certain banks go through a phase of writing off debts in the crash. Also what is the law over statue barred debt and does it also apply to business as well has personal debt.

Anyone remember the scenario with the Watford chairman and the verbal comments the media wrote about the case. I'm being careful with my wording here.
