nobody in particular tel i just cannot see the point the reason yes,how is this helping the future though.
waste of an opportunity, the fa are certainly not over thinking,,if he gets injured thats a double whammy from the fa to safc.if there is npbody else its fu###d
It's not helping the future, but that's not the only priority. The future is Kane & Rashford, so having a bit of experience to aid them won't do any harm.
They don't give a monkey's about clubs, especially the smaller ones. We're playing Germany and we're short on strikers. We don't want to be humiliated just before a major qualifier. I fully understand their thinking.
Best English striker in the PL available at present - if the England team have a half chance and you have an option of Defoe or some kid who's got no experience, would you rather have Defoe on the end of it or the young kid? It's about the games coming up and nothing more and so it should be
Not argu Not arguing about that aspect at all marcus , i personally would give a youngster some experience, all about opinions
Chances are a youngster isn't going to get on the pitch, so the experience would be just getting a feel of the England camp. Defoe could offer something, to Rashford for example... point out things that maybe the lad can improve on, Defoe's a completely different type of striker to Zlatan so Rashford could develop his game alongside him. There's benefits of having experience in any squad, not just putting the ball in the net.
Mlaugh> If someone said that 2 of the top scorers in the league by this time of year would have a combined age of nearly 70 people would've laughed! Both class - love watching both play
26 goals and 9 assists from the big man for us, apparently he wants 2 more years and we're stuttering over the deal, wanting to take it year by year... just give the bloke the 2 years I say, like Neville says, even if his legs go in the 3rd season, players like that in the dressing room are priceless. Defoe's maturity on the pitch has made him improve imo, he's always been clinical but he knows when to go and when to hold now, very clever player. Enjoy his last few games for you, I reckon he's off this summer no matter what you lot do.
See BSA is saying how pleased he is that Defoe has been called up, pity he didn't call the lad up when he was the England manager for all his games in charge....well for one game anyway.....tit.
Being cynical here but has Southgate picked him due to young Bradley being the mascot? I hope he has picked JD on merit but as stated earlier there is no mileage in this whatsoever.
Time was that the England Team was picked entirely on current form, (by a selection Committee). It goes without saying that this didn't work. Then Alf Ramsay got the job and he had a plan that involved a settled squad, gradually introducing maturing players. Then gradually the system changed to be permanently on the look out for Youth. Young players had to be 'brought on''. Laudable in it's way but we tended to win qualifying games and lose tournaments with teams brimming with inexperience. The expression USED to be, 'if they are good enough, being young doesn't matter'. Shouldn't the same be said about being (relatively) old?
